Sky Salon

I came to Citysearch to find a salon in Sky's area. I am a screenwriter considering Ohio for my next project. Their costs by Los Angeles standards are ridiculously low. I haven't paid less than 200 for a cut and style in years. However, as I read the reviews, I noticed each negative review was followed by an insolent comment, presumably by the staff of Sky. If they are not making the comments, they should certainly discredit whoever is with a follow-up comment. Negative customer comments are invaluable to a business if they are able to learn from them. Sky shows no such inclination. I would cut my own hair before I would go to a place with such an attitude. more

I was pleased with my cut. I'm a stay-at-home mom and I finally feel young and cool again. I agree with other reviewers that the staff is talented enough to do crazy cuts and colorings but also is good for the average mom like myself. Pros: good vibe. modern. more

I've been going to sky for the longest time and refuse to go elsewhere. my grandmother referred my mom there years back, and after she got her hair done [and loved it!] she started taking me there. i've had most of the stylists do work on my hair at some point in time. each and every employee at sky has personality, and it shows. they make every visit a personal experience. when you return for another appt. the hairstylist is usually pretty good at remembering what you did last visit, and always listens to what you have in mind. they give professional advice, and will suggest you don't do something if its not in your best interest (ex: i wanted to take my hair from black to blonde. the stylist recommended that i should do a partial hi-light instead, which saved me money, and also didn't fry my hair. even though he could have made i significantly larger amount of money doing the other work, he still gave a professional opinion) after your hair has been dyed, the shampoo/conditioning is to die for. between top of the line products and phenomenal massages, its just an overall wonderful experience. the stylist then will take the time to walk you through the haircut, make changes to suit your liking, and then show you step by step how to style your hair and recommend products (which are for the most part conveniently sold right in the salon) after having my hair done at sky, each and every time i have left feeling on top of the world, and have received SO many compliments. people may complain about the price, but i would rather give them my money than have a lesser experience elsewhere. [ the hairstylist i go to now is kevin. he's very funny, keeps up with the latest trends, and is constantly going to classes to learn more. I WAS DISSAPOINTED ESPECIALLY AFTER READING ALL OF THE GOOD REVIEWS. IT COSTED $100 JUST TO GET MY HAIR HIGHLIGHTED AND I DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR A CUT. Hairdresser's Salon-I am a hairdresser and I go to Damon to get my haircut. I love getting to feel like a client. Naturally, I am curious about what other salons are doing and I can say that they are on top of their game. (I work on the east side, so there is no competition). Everyone looks great when they leave and I have to say that Damon is always consistent. Since I help make decisions for everyone else's hair, I can pass on the responsibility to someone else. I've been going their for over a year now and I've never had the same haircut twice. Damon was someone that really inspired me to become a hairdresser. I was going to a different salon at Great Northern mall for years but was turned off by the attitude of the stylists there.......so I took a chance and went to Sky Salon and I love it. Todd gives me a great cut and highlight every time. I am always getting complimented on my hair! And everyone that works there is very friendly. Well lets just say I LOVE KEVIN, he is my personal stylist, i have known kevin for a very long time. i mean a very long time, he is awesome at what he does, when i go in there and i say kevin i need something diffrent he gives me his idea and i go with it. i never ever had a doubt about what he will do with my hair. The shampoo is one of the best parts about it, and the people are so friendly, and so very up beat and positive. They always welcome you with a smile and ask you if you need anything. I love Sky salon and i will continue to go there! i was just there today and i loved it and i love my new hair style. Thanks Kevin and thank you to everyone at Sky Salon! Great Job! I have known Kev for a number of years and he has great hands! He gave me the best ""shampooing"" ever! His cut was just as strong as his hands!! i was a little nervous walking into sky for the first time. you know the feeling am i dressed ok are they going to be snooty? but luckily i was made to feel right @ home. a young assistant greta greeted me with a smile and offered me something to drink. the place is cool to look at , great colors, sweet music. tammy did my hair and made me feel confident that i could do it at home. she took her time explaining what she thought would work best for me. but also listened to what i had in mind. i didn't feel pressured into buying a ton of stuff i would probably never use. tammy made me feel attractive again!!!!!!! i am a stay at home mom who hasn't made very much time for myself lately. so thank you tammy and sky salon for making me feel at home and put together. I drive an hour to go to sky salon. I think all the sylists there are extremely talented, and so incredibly friendly. I am never disappointed when I am done there. TJ is the one who color, cuts, and styles my hair, and its always gorgeous, he knows how to work with my hair which isnt very easy (its really fine and straight) he always does something trendy, new and fun! The color is always amazing, and stands out (just how i like it) I would recommend this salon to anyone that wants to feel and look gorgeous!! All of the stylists like I said are great,and I have referred a lot of my friends to this salon and they have always been totally impressed. My friends and I are in cosmetology school and we love going there.. their especially good with correcting hair as well... you know being in cosmetology experiementing your going to have some styles that need fixed and the stylists @ sky salon always pull through! Not to mention everyone is so friendly, and the shampoos.... are to die for!! :-) .... I've gotten 2 cuts from T*** so far in the past two years. My orthodonthist's receptionist recommended him to my mom, and I got an appointment. At the time, probably 2 years ago 2002 T*** was $30 a cut. It varies from stylist to stylist, and the top stylists charge accordingly (much more). They were very polite, offered a drink and took my coat, and the shampoo/scalp massage were excellent. I described to Todd what kind of a cut I wanted, and afterwards I was disappointed. It was just a simple trim and a few layers and it was not flattering. After the cut he put some mousse in my roots, which lifted them so the crown of my head looked almost inflated. It did not look good. The second time I went, a year later, I went to T*** again. His price per cut had now increased to $40 a cut. He did ask me what I did and didn't like about my last cut, but yet again I was underwhelmed for the cut that I got. My hair is quite long and is not a difficult texture, but I have gotten better and cheaper cuts ($6 special on certain days) at the Aveda beauty institute in Columbus, on the OSU campus. By a student. My friends who have also gotten their hair done at Sky say that the cuts are good (not great) and the prices are too expensive. They also say that they can get the same cut somewhere else for cheaper. I suppose if you wanted a very short, styled, radical cut with specific coloring sky would be great, but when it comes to the rest of us, who just want a great cut (and don't have short, feathered hair in 3 different colors), sky hasn't delivered. I don't have a personal agenda against sky either, as I said, I had 2 separate occasions where I was disappointed. LIke I said, Aveda institute on OSU campus delivers for only a fraction of the cost, don't risk being disappointed here.\r \r my review is genuine and I hope that those that work at sky don't write inflated reviews just to increase the ratings of this salon. After spanning the globe for the best hair stylist - I finally found one at Sky. Everyone is so friendly and customer service is top quality. For once the stylist actually took the time to show and explain to me how he was styling my hair - so I could actually attempt to do it on my own at home. Walked out feeling like a million dollars. more

Ok, girls, this guy Todd he knows what he is doing. My sister and mother use Todd to color their hair at Sky Salon. This guy knows what he is doing and if you are having a hard time deciding on a color, he will make suggestions, and actually I went with his and my hair turned out awesome. Every other salon I have tried before never got the color just right, and I always walked out disappointed. Todd is very knowledgeable of the products he uses there, as well as he is great on suggesting styling tips for your hair. This was the VERY first time I actually walked out of a salon HAPPY with the way the color turned out!! I will always go to Sky and ask for Todd to color my hair!! my whole life ive been given hairstyles that made me look like a drone wannabe, a member of the always present blah in life. well about a year ago i started going to a young hairstylist named carly and i havent felt any symptoms of the blah disease since. sky salon is great place with a fun and inviting atmosphere but what it comes down to is the quality of the cut, and carly and the rest of the staff are obviously kept up on there education and styles abroad. carly takes her hairstyles to a level wear it fits you physically and fits whatever your sense of bieng is. you can complain about the price all you want what it comes down to though is when you look in the mirror do you feel content even excited about what you see..... i do. I enjoy a nice two hour drive each way to get the best haircut and service I have ever found in a salon. Kimberly took my hair from long and stringy to short and sassy. A day does not pass without someone commenting on my modern hair style and my natural hair color (assisted by Kimberly and the salon's fabulous color)...even if I am late on getting a cut. One friend said it best, ""you do not find stylists like yours very often, what a professional cut"" and that is why I won't consider somewhere else. If someone has not commented on your hair in the last month, you need to make a change! Don't look any further and put your hair in trusted hands. I highly recommend Sky Salon! The tone is set by the owner, Damon, and is carried through by the entire salon staff. Damon and his stylists keep up with all the latest trends, but more importantly know what looks good on each client (sometimes it's NOT the latest trend). They excel in both color application and cut. While the energy is high inside the salon, it's also a soothing experience because of the way each client is focused on. Tammy gives the best head massages, and I highly recommend them for those who suffer from head-aches. No one leaves the salon looking anything but great! In fact, just yesterday I was stopped twice to ask who cut my hair! Damon and his staff do equally well with children as they do with customers in their 20's, 30's or beyond. Strongsville has no idea how lucky it is to have Sky Salon within its perimeter. Damon (owner), T.J. and Devon (just to mention a few of the salon's stylists) are among the most talented in the city, and combined with their youth and continued efforts to educate themselves in all that the hair industry has to offer as it constantly changes and advances, there is no better salon experience to be had. The environment is inviting, relaxing, and inspiring, and the customer service leaves little room for improvement. It's quite a shame that one individual who seems to have a personal issue with the salon could have so many false and negative things to say. I've been a client at Sky for years and while I've previously paid much higher prices at east-side salons, I could never imagine going elsewhere. more

I love this salon!! The staff is very well trained, and the atmosphere is always lively and fun =) It always smells good inside, and all the chairs are extremely comfortable. Devon is my favorite! She knows pretty much any hairstyle in the world. She has traveled to London, San Francisco, among others. Everyone is very willing to make you comfortable. Never any complaints. 100% satisfaction. I have never had a head massage like the ones they give at Sky Salon. I've been a client at Sky since they opened and I have never had a bad experience! It is the perfect place for someone who is twentysomething, like myself, but my mom goes there to and loves it too. We feel like family when we walk in.
