this place was nice but its not what everyone makes it seem like. its just whatever and the music is not even loud enough to hear it.

I went on a Tuesday night and had no problem getting in (there was no line either at 10pm). It is small with a great view of the city and is worth checking out on a week night. To get some alcohol in your drink, get them directly from the bar. When the waitress serves you, the alcohol seems to be missing from the mix. Pros: Great view Cons: Expensive, Street Parking more

Got in right away... 5/29/2003

We went on a Monday and after the asking if we had a reservation (we didn't) we were let right in. (Of course we were a group of 3 girls!) The view of LA was amazing and the bar was very trendy. The guys tended to be on the older, wealthy side the night we went. No celeb sightings unfortunately! Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Needs younger men more

It is a cool bar. But, its a pain in the ass to get into. Most of the people at the bar are just staying at the hotel on business. But sky does have its share of rich pretentious customers. Relaxing Atmosphere, I don't understand why people think this is a hard place to get into. Maybe if you show up with 5 of your best guy friends. If you keep the girl/guy ratio even it's never a problem, unless your from Encino. THEN ALL HOPE IS LOST!!!!!!!!!! more

People tend to come to this place to look at what they couldn't see in their hometowns. They stare with awe and try to be LA. It's not worth going to this place as it's pricey, boring, and full of people just trying to be the "IN" thing. Pros: Nice lights, Nice velvet ropes Cons: Expensive, Boring, Poor music sounds more

There is nowhere in the world like the sunset strip. Glamour, stars, and great looking people. All seeming to collaborate late evening at the skybar. Even the staff have the look. The view at night overlooking West Hollywood is breathtaking. The sevice is amazing and the staff is friendly. If you're looking for a good time on the strip this is the place to be. Skybar has best parties in the city. Playboy, Halloween, etc. Beautiful and frendly servers. Wonderfull view!!! Saturday is the best - dance the night away in the Hut. Celebs everywhere - Dolph L, Mathew P, Drew B, Oprah W, Pierce B, Jamie F, Hugh H, Uma T, Leonardo D, Toby M and on, and on, and on. The best spot for party animals. You've gotta be sneeky 10/4/2002

The first time we attempted to get in, the bouncer didn't like the couple we were with, said straight out that WE could get in but not them. We hung around anyways, and eventually that couple left, and we went over to get in, but this time they said no because it was packed. We tried to be sneeky and say we had a room there, they didn't by it. We tried bribing with money, didn't want it. THEN we overheard someone say "Tony, Gino needs you"... and got an idea. We went around to the front entrance, where they weren't letting any people in either, and told that bouncer that Tony & Gino told us to come to you and you'll let us in. He bought it and we were in! First Time at the Skybar 9/3/2002

I am from San Diego, and headed won to L.A. for the weekend. I made reservations prior to my visit at the Mondrian (great suite), and well-eventually I had to head down to the Skybar later on that night at about 10:45 P.M. Everything went well, no hassle getting in, met beautiful women, spoke to various people in there-and the service was great. I enjoyed the L.A. Nightlife-specially the views, and well, this New Year if all goes well, I will soon talk about my N.Y.C. experience. This isn't an easy place to get into unless you're on the guest list, staying at the hotel, or use your charm. Once you're in, this place is happening! Everyone is super friendly and the drinks are great! Almost a velvet rope kind of place. Pros: beautiful people Cons: tough to get in more

skybar was definitely the place to people watch. the couches around the bar and pool were super comfy and you can easily keep back and soak in the LA experience. thought it was a great place to stay too (mondrian). more

Deliciously LA 7/30/2002

This bar is so decidedly LA that not to like it would in fact shun the very essence of the Hollywood spirit. Sure, getting in might be tricky but once you walk through the door you're welcomed into the mecca of beauty. The all-outdoors bar is simply put, fabulous. Congregate by the pool, or up the stairs in the "dance" area. Lounge on fluffy pillows and watch the stars high above -- and down below, for that matter. Of course drinks are pricey, but what did you expect? Pros: People scene, Always hopping Cons: Tough to get in more

I didn't care to much for the crowd or the music. The people aren't that excititng to watch. The sofa's and pillows surrounding the pool are great but I would not go there to meet people. It's a good group setting bar. more

Hands down the best bar in town no matter what others says about pretentiousness and all. Yes, its a bit pricey but you get what you pay for ! The hangout for the creme de la creme of LA which is very pleasing to the eye ! more

I hav been to Skybar more than I can count, and everytime I leave I say to myself "why did I waste my night here"...lol, other than waiting for some drunk fool to fall in the ungated pool. The only plus to this bar is the view of Hollywood and the night lights, but other than that the drinks are HIGHLY over priced, the crowd is usually talking about how wonderful they are, oh, did i mention there are only two resturant stalls, and the doormen (well, ha, that's a whole other story) Pros: View Cons: Expensive, doormen more

The Spirit in the Sky 5/19/2002

The last time I was there was several years ago. I have to say I had a good experience. Nobody was rude. Nobody had a bad attitude. In fact, the staff was pretty friendly. Enjoyed the view, lounged on a poolside mattresses and mused at the people who cared way too much that they made it inside. Rumor has that Skybar is on its way out. Catch the wave before it crashes.
