$1 Oysters at the bar 6/30/2010

Some friends and I stopped by on a Monday afternoon to check out the $1 oyster promotion. I'm a huge fan of the dollar oyster specials around town, and definitely think Skipjack's take on this promotion is top notch. There were 4 different types of oysters to choose from, of which I really enjoyed 3 - the Blue Points were a little bland. Thankfully, there were no limits as to how many oysters you could order (it seems many restaurants are capping how many you can order). In addition to oysters, Skipjack's offers $1 jumbo shrimp, which were nice, and broke up the time we had to wait to get the oysters we ordered. I will definitely be back to Skipjack's for more oysters. But, I also noticed some other bar area promotions like Taco Tuesdays( $2 tacos) , and 1/2 price sushi on Wednesdays, which I would also like to check out. Pros: Fresh, friendly servers Cons: Weird space more

Fresh seafood 7/15/2007

Fresh Seafood, but I am sure it is fresh most places in Boston. Our waiter wasnt very helpful. Our party of six ordered six orders of sushi thinking their were three pieces per order and he didn't give us any helpful hints or advice, so we ended up with 36 pieces of sushi. I was disappointed with the baked lobster, wish I would have just ordered the steamed. Pros: taste of sushi, clam chowder, steamed lobster Cons: Waiter, Cost more

Crappy Seafood, Good Chowda 2/8/2007

Ordered take out from Skipjack. The food was simply awful. I had the lobster and shrimp fra diavolo and my girlfriend ordered the shrimp scampi. The shrimp had little flavor, and was overcooked. The pasta was overcooked as well, and the sauce was soupy and bland. The only redeeming thing about the meal was the clam chowder. Perhaps I made a mistake by ordering takeout, but there is no excuse for the quality of food I was served. Skipjack is certainly not worth the price. If you want better go down the street to Atlantic Seafood. Pros: Clam chowder Cons: Everything else more

Hospitable and Tasty 11/2/2006

I recently had lunch at Skipjack's. I had the grilled shrimp and caesar salad; very tasty. The location is convenient. My waiter was very hospitable and friendly. He checked on me all the time to ensure everything was okay. The ambience was nice. It's a nice place to have lunch. Pros: Service, Food, Friendly Staff more

Absolutely Amazing 2/15/2006

I hate seafood and vowed never to try it after a bad experience at Legal Seafoods, but trust me when I tell you that I have definitely turned a new leaf after eating at Skipjack's. The service was amazing not because the wait staff was friendly, but because my waiter helped me in choosing the right fish for me and it was absolutely amazing. I never thought I would say I actually liked fish, but I did and I will be going back most definitely. The price is somewhat high, but sometimes the good things are worth paying for. Also, the ambience and setting of the restaurant are just incredible. You feel right at home, but at the same time it's almost like a big roller status kind of place. Definitely GO! more

is this really really recommended in Boston? 7/25/2005

I have never travelled to Boston, wanted great seafood, and was booked here by the concierge at Jurys. Disappointing. The wine list is - uninspired and minimal. There were NO fresh specials. I asked the waitress what was ""fresh"", and she said that there were no additions to the menu - and the menu had not changed in some time. The Northern Haddick was delicious - but vegetables were overcooked. They listed many oysters on the menu, but only had 3 kinds in the kitchen, 2 of which were not very good (we sampled all). Don't waste your time here. Pros: convenience Cons: service, food, wine more

Better Than Legal's 5/30/2004

In my opinion, Skipjacks has better seafood fare than Legal Seafoods. The cuisine, presentation, and prices all top Legal's offerings. My favorite part is I do not have to break the bank if I want to treat a friend to lunch. They also make wonderful drinks. The seafood platter with a side of rice pilaf is worth every penny. Pros: Location, Prices, Good Food more

Good... 3/15/2003

The food here is pretty good but the style is pretty predictable. The way the fish is prepared is pretty much like other places, but it still tastes good. The clam chowder was only okay. Surprisingly, the best chowder I ever had was not in New England, it was in Arizona! And I've had a lot of chowders at a lot of places. more
