Skilligalee has to be the perfect seafood restaurant that I have eaten in a very, very long time. I would LOVE to say that their atmosphere is cozy and warm. Their staff are attentive, timely, and wonderful. The food is beyond comparison to any other seafood restaurant in the Richmond area. If you haven't been, please visit this restaurant as soon as possible. You will not be disappointed for the true seafood lover. I will be back to visit the restaurant again. It will be not be cheap, but the prices are reasonable and the service and food is excellent..... :-) Thank you Janet for a wonderful experience. more

Went to Skilligalee for our Annual Company Christmas Party for the 5th (and definitely last) year. It's declined dramatically since its hayday, but this year was pretty much disgusting. The food, aside from taking hours and hours to get it, was terrible...the napkin tasted better. The dreary atmosphere combined with the horrific stench of raw sewage was enough to turn our stomachs walking in the door. Wishing we had turned and left at that point. My boss spent a very large amount of many on this function and it was deeply disappointing. more

went for Father's Day. waited over an hour for main entree. Decided to just leave. Manager not very concerned. Said he was in the back shucking oysters. Will we go back....probably not. Cons: wait time more

Love this place! Had lunch there with friends recently - ordered the onions rings to share. Omigosh! Best ever - hands down!! Enjoyed the spinach & grilled scallop salad with a side of spoon bread. Delicious! And they make spoon bread ""every day - twice a day"". It's no wonder! That has got to be one of their most popular items! If you haven't tried Skillagalee, you just don't know what you're missing! Take it from someone who travels from Fredericksburg just to eat there. Pros: Spoon bread Cons: Haven't found any yet! more

I have been to skilligalee so many different times. I just cant get enough of it. I love their food ,they have the best seafood in richmond people, this place is a must go if you live here or are just passing through. I just dont understand how people can say otherwise. They dont know what a great restaurant is i guess. Skilligalee has the best blacked va rockfish ever!!! and thats not the only thing. Here ill help you, go check out their menu on their website just type in their name and have a mouth watering experiance. And their drinks.... are amazing the bartenders there really now their stuff. Not only is the food great but the service is equally so. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with a warm and caring smile which now a days is hard to fined when you go out. Then you are welcomed again by the wait staff. These ppl actually care about you. Its wonderful, i saw a host help an elderly woman to her chair she then helped her with her walker and took her jacket for her to hang up. What heart. All im saying to anyone that may read this is just go check this place out for yourself and you will see what i am saying is true. My Husband and I threw our niece an engagment party at skilligalee two weeks ago and everything was lovely. We booked one of their private dinning rooms for our event. Everything was so elegant, they put nice white tablecolths on all the tables. The professional wait staff served the cake that the manager allowed us to bring in for no extra charge. I like the idea that we had a choice of private rooms to choose from . The food was superb and I would book another special occasion. Pros: Seamless Service Cons: Small parking lot more

My family and I enjoyed another great dinner at Skilligalee last night, but this time we decided to save room for dessert. I chose the bread pudding and it was the best! The apple cobbler and key lime pie were also good.Always good food at my favorite place to eat. My family and I had a great time at Skilligalee. The food tasted great and the service was quick and friendly. Their spoonbread is the best around and the jumbo fried shrimp are huge! I just dined at Skilligalee for the first time the other night. It was my birthday and I definetly wanted it to be special. We have visited Skilligalee many times over the years and we love the food, and the service, and the ambiance. As someone who enjoys wine, I love their variety and reasonable prices. Recently, I took my mother for her birthday and when the staff heard me casually mention it, they all made a point of coming over and wishing her a happy birthday. She liked that personnel touch and made me promise to bring her back. i have also taken my business associates there for lunch and have been able to conduct our meetings with a quiet atmosphere. Skilligalee is a beautiful restaurant inside with good food and service, they just need to light it up outside! Skilligalee is one of my favorite places to go. No matter if my husband and I go alone or if we bring our kids we are welcomed in the same manner. Skilligalee has the best seafood platter around, more than I could eat in one sitting. They have romantic lighting and comfy booths that make you feel like you are in private dining. My Husband and I visit Skilligalee frequently and we always have an excellent meal. My favorite dishes are the stuffed shrimp and the crab cakes. They also have a selection of wonderful nightly specials that we often try. One special that I always order if it is offered is the blackened salmon with a fresh tomato cucumber relish. This is the perfect summer time dish. My family and I love the food and the staff, some of who we have gotten to know very well. They always take excellent care of us treating us more like family than customers. This is a great place to dine! Pros: fresh seafood more

Excellent choice for seafood. Eat downstairs for a more casual private pub like atmosphere or if you have little kids! The food is always excellent and we love it. Highly recommend. Pros: Food excellent, service excellent, great value for the quality of food. Cons: close at 9pm. more

We have eaten at Skilligallee's several times and it just not very good. I got an early bird special, which was the lobster tail on one ocassion. The lobster tail was tiny - I mean maybe 2 bites (If I had taken a bite of it). I tried to return it, but the restaurant would not exchange it because I had removed it from the shell. This makes me think they re-serve food. Service is always lousy. Seafood at Red Lobster is better than this place. I will not return.
