I was at this particular place, where I witnessed not only staff physically beating up students as young as 9, 10, 11. I watched the staff aid of the middle school class repetitively slam a 90 pound child to the ground over and over. Family of mine when he was as young as 7 years old, was sent to this school, he was just a little boy. But because of their containment procedures he was severely harmed and left bleeding profusely out of his abdomen and left in a metal cell for hours without ever receiving medical attention. It required 17+ stitches and the school district ESD 189 told my mother there was nothing she could do about it. Because there was no other school she had to send him completely out of the state for his protection. And never put your child in this god forsaken school. more

Skagit Discovery is the worst school to have ever opened it's doors. The teachers don't belong anywhere children. They treat the students like convicted felons.They even have locked rooms with absolutely no padding on the walls to keep the students from harming themselves. As a former student at this establishment, I feel it my duty to any parents interested in enrolling the child here that should never be an option. They barely supervise the students, and the one's that "misbehave" are thrown out into the halls where absolutly noone watches them. When this happened to me, I attempted suicide trying to get back into class. When the medics arrived on scene, I untied my socks from around my neck. When first told of the incident,my mother was told by the staff that they had to cut the socks from my neck. Boy was she suprised when in my backpack were two whole socks. this school needs to be closed down. thank you for reading this, and maybe a little insight from a former student that survived will haelp you make your decision.
