Needs a Food Make Over 4/25/2012

The food was very bland. The salad arrived, just iceberg lettuce, I ordered Italian dressing; I think I got a watered down vinaigrette. Before I took two bites from the salad the entree arrived, pork chops, they were over cooked and unseasoned, and the mashed potatoes had no seasoning. The theme here is no flavor, no seasoning. It is not good Diner Food. I would skip this place. more

AVOID AT ALL COST 7/6/2010

I was just looking for a chill local place, to have dinner with my Mom, who was in town for a night. Had I known how displease we would be when we left, I would have never gone. The waitress was sort of snobby and rude; she couldn't remember to ask soup/salad, side, etc, as she took the order; she would turn her back and start walking away while you were trying to ask her something; she said let me fill your waters 6 times before she did it(which was as we were leaving). The food was a disgrace to cooking, the best part of the meal was the salad. Appetizer - onion rings - over cooked, tasted like fryer oil (waitress didn't ask if we wanted any ketchup or sauce); salad - huge for being part of a dinner, had about 8 servings of dressing on it, to the point where it was ranch overload; main course - MY chicken fried steak - a little burnt, mediocre in taste, ty for the decent COUNTRY gravy and mash potatoes, side vegetables were over steamed, mushy, and had NO flavor - Mom's Salmon Fillet - This was the WORSE part of the meal - the salmon fillet was pan fried at too high a heat for too long, it was closer to salon jerky, utterly disgusting, no gravy on the mash potatoes (luckily) and the veggies were over cooked too. We got a side of brown gravy, which was so horrible that anyone in their right mind wouldn't even serve or call that gravy. Mom tried it before dousing her mach, and we sent it back; tasted like tomatoes, salt, and starch... wtf. The waitress ""comped"" the Salmon plate, the proceeded to try and charge us for it in the total of the bill. And to top it off, we both now have the runs.(if ya know what i mean) PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS (Eat at the 7-11 across the street, you'll have a better meal there) Pros: Passing on eating here Cons: Everything more

Charming and retro-fabulous 3/28/2010

This diner is charming, has an old-Hollywood retro-feel and is great for a late-night ""after-the-bars-close-down"" experience. Pros: friendly servers, good old-school diner-style food more

North Hollywood Diner's Tuesday night soup made me ill....literally. 5/20/2008

I just ate a bowl of soup from this diner and within 20 minutes was ill to the point that I no longer am carrying it. I am a regular customer, I called and asked them to refund me for the meal and they refused. I'm shocked at their unwillingness to work with me on this, instead making comments that I am a regular complainer instead of a regular patron. Enjoy this quaint North Hollywood hang at your own risk. Pros: Usually nice servers Cons: Their food has upset my stomack on more than a few occasions. more

Open 24 hours 3/22/2008

I love Sitton's North Hollywood Diner. Around here we call it the ""NoHo Diner"". I eat there about 2-3 times a month and I'm still not tired with their menu. My all time favorites meals are their breakfasts. You can usually pick where you want to sit if its not busy as well. It's a pretty relaxing environment where u can just hang out and eat some food. Sometimes I feel like I'm eating in my mom's kitchen. When I have friends from out of town come to N.Hollywood to visit, Sitton's North Hollywood Diner is definitely on the list of places they must try. The portion sizes are also pretty good. Pros: fast service, comfortable environment more

Oh My God! 9/3/2007

At first sight, it is Charming. Old Hollywood in North Hollywood. Like Musso & Franks. I was impressed with the Decor. The charm quickly faded when my ice water came with 1/2 of a GREEN CHEWED TOOTHPICK floating in it. No, not the decorative green plastic pom-pom at the end of a Clean toothpick, a 1/2 toothpick chewed & Green- from a pickle? or God knows. I said nothing. I drank my husbands water instead. Then there were the flies- about 5-7 swarming around our table. i said nothing. My husband then told me there was a Pigeon cruising around the outer tables. Yes, there was. i said nothing. When my Chicken salad sandwich came to me with fries instead of fruit, i snapped. ""I ordered it with fruit!"" The Old waiter said,""Oh i so sorry miss, all you have to do is say! i change it right away."" My husband was already leaving and had put the $ down with the bill. The bill that came as soon as our food did???! How did they know we didnt want anything else? Like a milkshake served with the other 1/2 of the scary toothpick?. I picked up the $ and fled. What a waste of beautiful stained glass & Movie-Star Glamour Shots. Pros: beautiful decor but not CLEAN (gorgeous art-deco sconces with dust-Dingleberries hanging over table Cons: pigeons, flies used toothpicks in water, scary waiter more

Terrible Food and Offensive Service 12/18/2006

If you are looking for good food and friendly attentive service, Sitton?s restaurant is unequivocally the worst choice you could possibly make. The food is horrendous as even toast seems covered in a layer grease. . If that weren?t bad enough, the service is even worse than the food with some of the staff so rude and offensive that they would be better served handing out job applications outside a city jail. Pros: Patio where you can smoke, eat and drink coffee - Generally good friendly crowd. Cons: Rude Night Manger, indifferent attitude and a few very unattentive waitresses more

The Anti-Denny's in NoHo 11/12/2006

Sitton's? I swear, the sign says ""NoHo Diner"" out front... but I digress. Sitton's is the anti-Denny's-- it's crusty and fusty, and kind of eccentric. The waitresses, while friendly, have that wise-cracking cynicism that comes from slinging plates o' hash at neighborhood regulars for years. The food? Fairly unremarkable -- but it's diner food, what do you expect? One of my screenwriter friends who lives in Studio City swears by this place -- he loves that it's unpretentious and unapologetically not a chain restaurant. Me? Well, I was disappointed somewhat because I was so hoping that the food would be awesome, and it'd be the kind of place I'd go to every Sunday. But, well... if the food was great, then I'd probably never be able to get a table so quickly on a Sunday morning. It's a neighborhood diner -- the kind of place you'd see in every town in the U.S.A. if there were no Denny's -- and if your expectations are at that level, you'll never be disappointed. Pros: Decent diner food, rarely a wait for a table Cons: Slightly cranky but friendly waitresses, unremarkable food more

Disguisting food, disguisting people 9/26/2006

The food in this restaurant is so bad, even on a Saturday night after consumming many, many drinks I couldn't allow myself to consume it. The people are even more disturbing than the look and the taste of the food. I'm not sure if there's an S&M club nearby, but there were many older, half-dressed, leather-clad patrons walking around. Definately not a sight to be seen... Avoid!!! Ihop is Spago's compared to this dump. Pros: Pretty cheap Cons: Horrible food more

Barely Average 12/10/2005

I went there last night with my GF and the food was bad. I ordered a club sandwich and it was horrible the bacon was soggy and old as if it was prepared at 5:00 am and the turkey was a thick very dry cut so go figure. My GF ordered veggie lasagna and did not sit well with her either. The service was good and the food came out of the kitchen pretty quick. I recommend it if nothing else is open at late night but do not expect good food. Pros: Service, parking, open hours Cons: food quality more

on my way home 8/22/2004

i make it a point to stop by at least once a week at the diner. working nights, i sometimes really feel like just sitting back and relaxing. the service at sitton's is great. all the waitresses are very helpful and the hosts(esses) don't make you wait just for a table just because they can and they don't rush you out the door after your meal. good coffee and breakfast on my way home really make the trip worth it. i would recommend anything on the menu but i have yet to try everything. Pros: good food, wait staff, worth the price more

AND YOUR POINT IS? 12/22/2003

We love this place. We go late at night. Good home-style dinners and for the late night crowd, great breakfast. The night waitresses are a hoot. Once they get to know you, they'll rib you endlessly and they take it as easily as they give it. As a native New Yorker, I get a kick out of this attitude. The patio seems to be the place where the fun people hang out. I hope they're around for a l-o-n-g time. Pros: Good food, Fun Waitresses, Fun Patio Cons: Patio needs more heat more

check out the grade in the window 4/1/2003

This place had so much potential, but now it has - well not so great food, mean servers, and a bit on the dirty side. The up side is - it is open 24 hours. Don't expect much from this joint. Pros: open 24 hours Cons: bad food, bad servers more
