Worst Customer Service ....RUDE 5/18/2006

I have been in so many Restaurants including Indian Restaurant. My experience is very bad with this.I heard the same from other friends. They have some good foods but service is worst. They talk rude. Basically. they do not care.I do not go any more and also suggest my friends. They do the same thing. Pros: some good foods Cons: worst service, seating more

Samosa me, baby! 1/21/2006

Mmmmm... Sitar is one of my favorite restaraunts. The enticing fragrance of spices, chutnies, and more made me forget my promise to restrain myself from gluttony. As soon as I sat down, a waiter came and filled my glass, and soon some puri with a wild onion chutney, coriander, and a brown sauce came. My friends and I gorged ourselves on the hot and satisfying flavors and we ordered samosas. Now, I personally prefer the vegetable samosas, they are spicier, but some of my carnivorous friends preferred the meat samosa, not so spicy. We then ordered naan, and I ordered chicken tikka. My food was literally to die for. The only downfall of this restaraunt is now I am craving Indian food everyday, I even tried to cook it, but it was not nearly as good as Sitar. Pros: Flavor, Water Patrol, Service Cons: Crowded, Overeating more

Rude Rude Rude 12/10/2005

Very poor customer service and rude response. We were three families togather. My child (8 months old) and my friends wife was pregnent and we had planned to go to Sitar. Called up this guy and asked him for how long they were open and the gentleman sand buffet is open till 3:00. We all reached there around another 2:40 and when we went in that guy said we are closed and when i asked I had called I was told that they were open till 3:00. That guy rudely replied you all wont finish by 3:00 anyway. I felt very bad we had to go around and search for another place in that cold weather. more

My favorite restaurant in Nashville! 11/5/2005

When we moved to Nashville from Detroit, one of our concerns was finding quality ethnic food with vegetarian options in the ""Land of Meat-n-3."" Sitar has become our favorite restaurant and we have to talk ourselves into trying other restaurants now that we have eaten at Sitar. The staff is polite, not too chatty, but very attentive (we drink a lot of water but never have empty glasses). We usually have to ask for more rice, but it's never a problem once we ask. There are a lot of vegetarian options and all of them are delicious. This is the style of Indian food that I like (people have preferences of North Indian or South Indian and if you like one, you usually are not too fond of the other) and I never walk away without that wondeful curry buzz that puts my brain into a state of euphoria. Pros: Great food, Convenient location, Vegetarian options Cons: Crowded space, Hard 2 find 1st visit more

Great Indian Place to Dine 10/29/2005

The food is great and the service is excellent. I like Sitar Indian Restaurant because they are nice to other Indians that dine there. There are few Indian restaurants in Nashville that are rude to other Indian customers (will not mention). These other Indian restaurant do not seem to acknowledge that Indian customers are providing business for them, but Sitar and few others have exceptional customer service. Pros: Food, Customer Service, Parking more

What restaurant did these people visit? 3/23/2005

I have driven across town on many occasions to eat at Sitar, where the food is wonderful and the staff are prompt. If you go for lunch and don't want the buffet then ask for a menu. The buffet is always good and filling. It is usually crowded at lunch so go early or late to miss the rush. I highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Variety, Amble servings, Value Cons: Parking is limited more

horrible buffet 2/28/2004

As someone of Indian origin, I have tried several Indian restaurants all over the world. Some have been good, some okay, some bad, but nothing was as tasteless as the buffet at Sitar. I couldn't even finish a quarter of my lunch, the food was that bad. After eating what I did, I couldn't get the horrible taste out of my mouth. The buffet is seriously not worth going to. more

Food OK...Service NOT 2/8/2003

Food was pretty decent. Service was nonexistant after being seated. Never even got so much as a water refill in 30 minutes. more

WOW!! our favorite place.... 1/17/2003

Great service, food that is out of this world. We can take the entire family and come away spending less than $75 , tip and all. IT's a hole in the wall place- very quiet and seldom crowded-love it! Pros: food, service, price Cons: atmosphere, decor more

Ethnic Joint 12/27/2002

Always had a quality meal...plenty of food for your $..just tell em to keep bringing the rice....in reference to review about service...this is an ethnic place and essentially your not there for service or ambience..your there for grub Hoss w/o spending much Kaysh...I sit myself, get these guys to pay attention and build alittle repore...being from Queens, NY originally its a no brainer..family owned dive ,off the boat..language barrier, cultural barrier...service?.Fuhhgeddaboutit who cares, just eat pal, tell-em what you want, heck yell across the room, get their attention and dont worry about it.....JUST GO and ESSEN! Pros: Plenty of chow, ethnic dive, Don't Worry about it Cons: Only if you look more

GOOD INDIAN CUISINE 11/13/2002

Best Indian food. Good prices. Traditional tacky decor......but you barely notice with all the great food. Wonderfully mild dishes too. Great naan bread. Good location. more

Good Food, Bad Service 8/17/2002

I've eaten here once and enjoyed the food, but the service was what has kept me from returning. I'm not the kind of person who expects to be waited on hand-and-foot, but I certainly appreciate a pleasant staff. At best, the staff on duty could be described as ""indifferent""; at worst, ""surly"". It ruined the experience and as a result, I haven't been back. Pros: Downtown, Tasty Cons: Bad Attitude more

A Cockroach Filled Sauna 6/2/2002

Just as my intro says my one and only visit to Sitar consisted of decent food, an unbelievably hot environment and one cockroach on the ceiling. So to say the least I did not enjoy my trip to Sitar at all and have absolutely no desire to ever eat there again...you know how the saying goes if you see one cockroach chances are there are 100's you can't see. Bon apetit! Pros: Quick service Cons: Hot more

The Best Indian Food in Nashville 5/31/2002

My husband is from India and we travel a lot, so I've had the chance to try a lot of different styles of Indian cuisine from homecooked to contemporary. Sitar is the BEST though. We return time and again for the wonderfully well-spiced, piping hot, fresh food. It's my husband's favorite lunch buffet--well-priced with good variety and an even better bargain with a Smart-Card discount. My favorite is the House Special Thali for dinner. And the service is suberb--I never have an empty glass. Pros: suberb food, excellent service, convient location Cons: poor parking, cramped space, lunch crowd more
