Great Food, Poor Service 6/2/2010

I would love to give this place a 5 star rating because the food is that good, but the service is so poor it's inexcusable --considering they're not usually very busy. If you want to eat here order it to go. Pros: Food Cons: Service, Atmosphere more

Great Food! Great Service! 12/29/2009

The food is great! Simply Thai was my first contact with the Thai cuisine and it was ""love at first bite"". You need to try their ""GANG MASSAMAN"" - the curry is out of this world! And you ought to have their coconut ice cream - light and delicious! The food is light and is not oily or greasy like the food from other Asian restaurants, which makes me believe it's healthier. I can't understand why others wrote their service is bad - I have always been welcomed with a smile and had their waitresses stopped by a few times to see how I was doing or to bring me refills - so I really can't understand why the complaints. I checked their website and they have great reviews from Deseret News (deseretnewsDOTcom/dn/view/0,1249,660203498,00.html) and have been on KSL a couple times! Give it a try - you won't regret it! Pros: The Food has unique taste - It's light (not greasy at all)! Cons: Having to wait - many people waiting to be seated sometimes! more

Good food, horrible service 6/14/2009

The food here is great. I love it. In fact I've eaten here on about twenty occasions. The last five to seven times, however, the service has been poor. At best. The restaurant was not crowded and there have been three to four wait staff on duty with plenty of empty tables. My family and I have had to wait to even be greeted, let alone seated. Your drink order will be taken and the drinks brought to the table, but don't plan on refills. Once your food is dropped off, appetizers and main courses all at once, that is the last time you will see your waitstaff unless you flag them down. If you asked for chili powder or another place setting (so everyone at the table has a plate and fork), plan on asking / reminding them again five to ten minutes later. I used to order dessert, however, good luck finding a place for it on the table. Your plates will likely not be cleared before you leave. I have always had to ask for dessert and then wait for it for another ten minutes or so. Great food, though. Service is horrible. I have returned for the food, however, there are other Thai places in town whose service is much better and whose fare is just as good (better?). Pros: Great Curries and Thai Salads Cons: Service, you wait and wait and ask twice to three times for more

Too much sugar! 5/4/2009

I decided to try this restaurant and regretted it. I had horrible service--they served me the wrong food and the waitress as no where to be found when I wanted to leave. There had to have been a cup of sugar in each curry dish I tasted. No where near the authentic Thai you can find elsewhere. Cons: Everything was too sweet more

Great Thai 2/7/2009

The service is great, lots of options on the lunch menu for around $7-$8, where other similar places only have a daily special for the same price. Love the curries, but I wasn't a fan of the soups. Pros: Curries are awesome Cons: soups not the best more

Best authentic ""home made taste"" in Salt Lake City 12/26/2008

I travel extensively back and forth to Thailand; Owner; Khun Noi is a wonderful cook and her food is just like good Thai food in Thailand, but very clean and hygienic (not normal for some US Thai restaurants) very large US portions, great lunch specials, and a very attentive owner. I must admit that the service can be ""spotty"" , and now the ambiance is much better with some original Thai paintings from Tsunami victim artists. Bring family, friends and business associates and you will not be disappointed, pricing is very reasonable. Pros: authentic food taste & quality, cleanliness Cons: strip mall location not too fancy more

Excellent service or Amazing Food? Simply a Tie! 11/25/2008

I live in Salt Lake City, but make it a point to go to Simply Thai every time I am in South Jordan. The food and atmosphere are both top notch. I have also used Simply Thai?s Catering services for a large gathering I helped to organize. The food was great and they were very accommodating. The owner is always so friendly and truly cares that customers receive the best service possible. I highly recommend Simply Thai to anyone looking for great food at a reasonable price. Pros: Authentic Food, Family operated Cons: Not open on Sundays more

Simply Thai is great 11/25/2008

Simply Thai is my favorite restaurant! The flowers are always beautiful, i come in weekly for lunch during work, the service is great. Sometimes the food is a bit slow, but the owner is always willing to help out! My friend didn't enjoy one of her dishes, so the owner went out of her way to make sure Ashley got something she enjoyed, free of charge! The service is superb. I have been inviting friends from Provo to come to Simply Thai, and now they drive the 40 minutes to get great food! Pros: Service Cons: Sometimes packed during lunch more

Adequate food, awful service 11/20/2008

I had read a favorable review of Simply Thai and was excited that it was so close to our home, so we decided to give it a shot. I will say that the food was alright (nothing special but not bad either), and not overpriced. The service and atmosphere however was awful. At first glance the restaurant is very pretty. Lights up and flowers on every table. Half of the tables (including ours) were covered in very DEAD flowers. Pretty gross. Also the restaurant was freezing. Everyone had on their coats through their meal. I saw the owner walking around several times and was surprised she didn't adjust the heat setting. Kept quiet because she did NOT seem very approachable. We were not even greeted by our server until 20 minutes after being seated. Forgivable if they were swamped but there were 7 tables for 2 servers. When she did great us she asked for our order and then interrupted us to ""go grab a pen"". Would have been fine if she smiled or said sorry or anything but she acted like we were at McDonald's. Water was slapped down on the table with the paper still attached tot he top of the straws. Didn't know they did that outside of Jamba Juice. Food finally arrived 25 minutes after ordering. During this time no contact from our server at all. Food was fine. Place seemed to have potential but I would not return unless I wanted cheap takeout. I'll continue to drive a bit to Thai Garden. They never disappoint. Pros: Ok food Cons: service more

Simply Thai simply fantastic 6/18/2008

I openly admit to being a huge food snob, I like great food and I'm a huge fan of Thai food. I've eaten it all over the country and many places in the Salt Lake valley and Simply Thai is the best yet. The food is light, healthy, and it tastes absolutely amazing. I discovered Simply Thai about a year ago, the food was amazing and the service was great. Since then, I go often, nearly once a week. I've taken many people and everyone I take in loves it and goes back. Also, Simply Thai is family owned and very welcoming. I highly recommend it. Pros: Amazing food, great service more

great thai food 6/16/2008

Simply Thai was my introduction to Thai food, and I haven't been able to find a better place. I've tried Pad Thai at several other local restaurants and it just doesn't compare to the Pad Thai served here. The service is great, with servers always making sure things are okay. There's a wide selection on the menu, from curry (the G a n g Massaman is a must) to Thai soups and salads and all of it is great. Highly recommended. Pros: really flavorful food, great service more

Best Thai! 6/16/2008

Curry is amazing! Pros: Family atmosphere more

Fantastic Thai!!!! 5/23/2008

After I moved back from L.A. I searched and searched for a Thai place in SLC that would live up to the Thai I?d become accustom to in L.A. I tried Simply Thai for my birthday dinner and was blown away! My family and I ordered a bunch a different dishes and each surpassed my expectations!!! The THAI PINEAPPLE CURRY was bliss and the THAI GREEN CURRY danced in your mouth!!! the PAD THAI was perfection! They brought me a scoop of mouth watering THAI COCONUT ICE CREAM with a candle in it. The service was fast and friendly. and portions were bountiful!!! I HIGHLY recommend Simply Thai and hope that it flourishes in business. I can?t stop eating there and hope I never have to!!!!! Pros: Amazing food and Service more

GREAT THAI FOOD! 5/2/2008

The food here is rich and satifying! I dont agree that it is too oily, as another reviewer has mentioned, but maybe I dont order the same things as they do. I highly reccommend the Yellow Curry (it wouldnt let me put thte name in here because one of the words was controversial) and the Pad Gra Pow (pork). The Pad Gra Pow is spicy, but so good! The lunch menu is a fantastic deal, and the dinner menu has enough to feed 2 people with each entree. Hope you enjoy! Pros: great atmosphere, great service, great food more

Not the healthiest Thai 2/26/2008

Great tasting fresh Thai 12/31/2007

We absolutely love this food. The taste is absolutely genuine and delicious. I find myself craving it from time to time. One of the things I like is that they do not use MSG. It is a smaller cozy restaurant, family owned and run, so you get personal attention. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Thai or any Oriental cuisine for that matter. It is one of the few restaurants out there that serves fresh oriental food that has not been sitting under a hot lamp or yesterdays leftovers. This is definetely not your ordinary chinese gourmet buffet. Pros: Great food, easy parking Cons: Sometimes it can get really busy for them, but that has only happened once in the 10 times so far that we have gone. more
