Yesterday was our 25th anniversary. We decided to go to Silvia's. I called and made reservations for 10 people at 7pm. When we arrived tables were set and very talented young gentlemen were playing piano. She said this is surprise for your anniversary. Food was amazing and a lot. We had homemade soup with their homemade bread and butter. then she brought roasted pepper salad and pan-fried fish with roasted mashed potatoes and sausage. we didn't hear when she said"" This is your appetizers"" Then they brought roasted lamb leg, sauerkraut and pork medallions. , file minion and roasted chicken as well as tossed salad and veggies. Everything was so delicious even though it was overwhelming seeing so much food(we took 10boxes and two pans back home we have second anniversary today.) Her homemade ice tea you will not find anywhere else. Try it you will not drink others. We will make here restaurant our place for occasions. Thanks Silvia and Galina(our waitress). more

Superb, REAL Home Cooking, Large Portions! 1/21/2012

This restaurant was absolutly FABULOUS!! Like the man below me said it's a little off the beaten path and it doesn't look like much but it is DELICIOUS!! The service is a little different but still good. She was sure to make sure our tummys were full as well as our wine glasses. She was very friendly and my goodness could she cook! You get fresh home made bread with butter (it's so good you don't even need the butter) and a wedge of cheese as soon as you sit down. While you are looking over the menu she brings you a crock of soup. Once you order she brings out your salad with an excellent homemade dressing. Not long after you get your meal (which is very large). Just when you think your experience is over she brings you dessert!! And the price was great too! It was not very busy for a friday night, only 3 couples were in there and we could not figure out why. EVERYONE MUST TRY THIS RESTAURANT!! IT IS TRULY AMAZING AND SYLVIA REALLY HAS A GIFT! more

Disappointed... 7/29/2011

wow. I must say I have to disagree with the majority of food critics on this site. I have also traveled throughout the ""world"" and must object to the other recommendations. Let's start by comparing it to the Enfield dining experience: Below average. You must be insane to put this place in the same category as New England fine dining. I hate to do this but I feel like going out to dinner should be a pleasurable experience. 3 big issues Service We were there for 2 hrs 15 min and not because we were having a great time. They were understaffed Food It was not that good. I Think the veggies were frozen not fresh and the food was cooked in a lot of butter-extremely greasy. Price 22 a plate- u can go to max's or Passos and spend the same and get top tier all of the above. Extremely disappointed by the experience and insulted by what they charge I expected more from a mom and pop operation. Chef Ramsey would need a bucket. more

I don't understand 2/3/2009

I have lived in 5 states and spent nearly a year in California on various business trips. I have had business trips to half a dozen foreign countries and been taken to dinner by my clients, to the best places. I know what a really good restaurant is. Silvia's is a REALLY good restaurant, put her restaurant in NYC or Dallas or San Francisco or Chicago and she could charge $150 for a meal and get it. But because Silvia's Restaurant is in Enfield CT and not near the mall, her restaurant is seldom full. We have a diamond in our back yard and most of us don't seem to know it. I am going to say it plainly, if you care about really good food, Silvia's is the best restaurant within 90 miles of Enfield. Maybe there are 1 or 2 better in Boston or NYC. Or maybe not. Pros: Food Food Food Cons: The neighborhood. Parking is fine and safe, but its not the best part of Enfield. more
