Before you decide to live at Silver Gardens II(that is what they go by now) do a complete walk through of the apartment including the laundry room, trash room and drive by at night. The good: is this is a mixed income apartment and green. The rent is great for what you are getting. The current manager Lu is great and if you make a complaint against a resident she will enforce the rules. If you need anything fixed, orders will be taken care of.Police NOW can get into the building and gated parking area if you call the cops about anything. There are case managers here and a resident council meeting that meets once a month. The problems here are residents smoking(cigarettes & weed) in their apartments and on balconies, ongoing crime/drugs/fights/homeless population/prostitution and so on in the neighborhood, parties/noise from stereos in their apartments, residents dropping trash in hallway and not picking up after themselves, unstable residents harassing staff and some residents, slamming of house and exit doors, bad odors from trash room and drains, dirty laundry machines,$25-$35 per month parking fee for parking garage with $40 deposit, cameras everywhere including inside of the elevator/parking lot, hallways, emergency stairwell. The only place there are no cameras are in your house!People not picking up after their dog and some not keeping their dog on a leash.Cockroaches (only in the summer months) coming up from the drains from the trash room but not in the apartments if you live on the top floors. Also they are in the courtyard and parking lot!If you live on the bottom floors in the summer months they will come from the outside/garbage receptors and into the apartment but the office does spray! so we have to make a request .At this place if you don't say anything or if you are passive this is not the place for you.You have to speak up and ask for what you need and not be afraid to call the cops once in a while.
