Perfect Dinner 10/14/2002

As a St. Louis native and resident of Benton Park (I live a block away from Sidney Street) I can assure you Sidney Street ranks at the top of St. Louis restaurants. The top. I've been there probably 50 times and have never had a bad experience. As a matter of fact, every experience has been flawless. Because the establishment treats their wait staff almost like family, the service is impeccable and friendly. Pros: menu, taste Cons: bad parking, reservations more

Isn't it romantic? 10/2/2002

Immediately upon entering Sidney Street Cafe, you are transformed back to a time where restaurants were for lovers. The ambiance, atmosphere, staff and food are sensually enticing to the mind, body and soul. The staff is fabulous in their knowledge (without notes) of the menu, and the descriptions of the choices tantalize the tongue through the mind. The setting is dark and romantic; the air electrified with promises of ""what comes later."" This is a great date place. Pros: great food, great service, romantic Cons: parking more

great food but NOT romantic 9/4/2002

For the past number of years I have went to the Melting Pot for mine and my husband's anniversary but this year decided to switch it up a bit. We were swayed by city search's 2001 restaurant poll. Sidney Street got #1 for most romantic while Melting Pot got #2. We had to see who could beat out the Melting Pot's romantic atmosphere. We were not impressed. Do not let me mislead you the food and service were phenomenal but we were sat in the middle of a crowed, noisy, completely open room. The only bit of romance that I noticed was the candle on the table. The server had to raise her voice just so we could hear her as did me and my husband. We will go back but just for dinner not for any romantic occasions. Pros: food Cons: not romantic more

Owner Message
  • Sidney Street Cafe is located in a century-old storefront building in St. Louis s historic Benton Park neighborhood. Run by Chef/Owner Kevin Nashan along with his wife Mina and his brother Chris, the restaurant is proud to be a neighborhood staple while also serving as a special destination for diners from all over the world. The New American cuisine is inspired by a melting pot of influences including Kevin s Spanish heritage, the New Mexican flavors of his childhood in Santa Fe, his love for Midwest and Southern ingredients, and his classic French training. The casually elegant dining room is highlighted by exposed brick walls, rich hardwood floors, and an antique bar where guests can enjoy cocktails, wine, and the restaurant s complete dining experience.
