Editorial review from Citysearch 9/13/2012

This is a fantastic shop. The service is personal and unhurried. On more than one occasion I have had the proprietor demonstrate ""how-to."" She spends time on helping select the right yarn for a project and has very good suggestions. She has never steered me in the wrong direction. I will definitely continue to shop here! more

Visited from out of town....was totally ignored 2/14/2011

I visited this shop twice. The first time I walked through the door and was quickly told that they were closing. Umm ok...I get that...could have been a little nicer about it but whatever. On my next trip to town I decided to go by the shop again. Wandered all over the store and was totally ignored. Then when I asked about the price of a skein of yarn was gruffly told that there are price lists hanging all over the store and I could consult one of those. Nope..not the customer service I'm used to by any means. I will not be visiting again. \r more

Great service, but kind of messy! 1/10/2010

I love this store! Yes, as some people have mentioned, it's sort of run down looking on the outside. And yes, the yarn's a mess. However, Carol, the owner, more than makes up for it! She is someone who truly loves to knit and wants to share her knowledge. I bought yarn for a baby hat and she sat with me for over an hour helping me! She encouraged me to come back with questions, and I did. Also, while the yarn in the store is messy, she knows exactly where everything is and can find it for you, just ask. I visit regularly to pick up yarn for projects and I love this store! Pros: The owner is wonderful Cons: Messy more

messiest store ever 11/28/2009

This store is in an extremely dilapidated old house that smells of mildew. The rooms are so crowded with junk that you cannot find anything your might be looking for. The weaving looms and spinning wheels are just randomly scattered around the place. I won't ever go back to this messy, smelly store. Absolutely terrible! Pros: lots of stuff Cons: so messy you can't find anything more

Don't bother 6/13/2009

Hope the lady working on Saturday afternoon was only weekend help. NO customer service; however, the yarn selection is awesome. Pros: Good selection of yarns Cons: Service more

Great for Yarn, not for Lessons 6/2/2009

A free knitting lesson came with the yarn and needles, but the instructor was very short with me when I didn't catch on right away. Plus she kept just TELLING me what to do, and didn't DEMONSTRATE what to do with her own needles. I'm a visual person and the fact that she kept barking out commands at me, for instance, ""Put the yarn BEHIND the needle"", was very confusing and unhelpful. She kept repeating, ""No, BEHIND the needle. BEHIND the needle."" I obviously wasn't catching on and she should have tried a different way to teach (for instance showing me?). I felt like a little kid being reprimanded. Pros: Excellent selection of beautiful yarns. Cons: Knitting lesson not so excellent. more

Most helpful service I ever received 1/4/2009

I just received FANTASTIC service at this store. I went in few days ago to purchase some needles with which to make socks. The owner sold me the needles, and told me that if I had any trouble, just come and see her. Yesterday, I was there for about 2 hours getting a private lesson on these socks. I couldn't believe it!! She couldn't have been sweeter. While I was there, her associate helped another customer with her knitting as well. When Carol, the owner finished helping me, she encouraged me to return if I got stuck again.\r \r I will be a dedicated customer for life now. They have a phenomenal selection of yarns, and great service to to go with it. more

NOT recommended for young knitters! VERY UNFRIENDLY! 10/15/2008

I have gone into this shop once before and wasn't impressed then, when as a new, younger knitter I was looking for a little help and needles. I know this isn't a teaching class but the owner was not helpful and a little condescending. \r \r Yesterday I went in to get a 12 inch circular needle(Michaels and AC Moore don't have 12 inch circulars) to help me make baby hats a little more easier than having to use DPNs. Another lady was there helping out while the owner was away and she was helpful and encouraging. I bought a size 2 and went home and started to make a baby hat only to realize that I should have bought bigger size. So, not even 24 hours later and went back to see if I could just EXCHANGE for a bigger size. I walked and the owner was bck and when i asked to get bigger size she first just stared at me for about a minute or two and said that she didn't do that. ""Okay, if it's a big deal, nevermind,"" I said. She then, asked what I was making, my yarn weight and told me ""I should have used the recommended needle with the yarn and THAT was MY mistake...not hers, so why exchange the needle on my mistake?"" Seriously?! I haven't been knitting but not even a year and whatever happened to a little customer service?! She also said that that was her policy on needles and since I went home and used them, again that was my mistake! There was no - ""here let me show you a better way or go ahead, don't worry about it!"" Also I did look at her ""return policy"" again and if she wants to stick by that it says ""No returns on needles,"" - I didn't want to RETURN them I just wanted to exchange them and pay any difference there was.\r \r I will NEVER go here again to be scolding like a 5 year old bad student and will go out of my way to either order stuff online or go to another shop! I have never seen such a horrible display at customer service or such a lack of desire to help someone else to learn their trade!\r Pros: speciality yarns Cons: unfriendly and unhelpful service more

A hidden treasure in Cary! 10/7/2008

An absolutely wonderful store! Just the selection alone makes them WAY above exceptional. They have yarn you didn't even know exsisted! And in any color you can think of. Not only is the stock unbeatable, they go out of their way to help you. I cannot count how many times I've gone in to look for yarn and one of the friendly and knowledgable staff is helping someone learn a new technique. There are beautifully created ideas throughout the store, from bags to hats and sweaters.\r \r If you are in to any kind of yarn craft, you simply MUST go to this store. It will make your crafting and creating experience complete!\r Pros: Selection, Staff, Overall Customer Service Cons: Difficult for people with physical handicaps/mobility issues more

I love this store 7/20/2008

This store is so much fun. The service is great, I have never had a question they couldn't answer. Good prices. The store is in an old house and yarn is stacked from floor to ceiling. It is like a treasure hunt. If you are looking for something specific then just ask. This is a fun store and you are supporting a local small business. Pros: Great service, prices Cons: Not handicap accesable more
