Was in the area of West Charlotte and decided to stop by shooters express to site in a new holographic site on my AR. The Gun shot great, unfortunately the staff and facilities were well below PAR. The fella who seemed to be in charge assigned me rifle lane 4. Not only were they VERY rude, I wound up having to repair lane 4's target holders before i could shoot. Not only did i have to repair it, i was there to site in the rifle and lane 4 had the ventilation system blowing constantly down it, so the target never stopped moving. When retrieving the target, the switch would keep flaking out and going further way before wiggling it to return. I report this to the rude fella behind the counter. He said he would look into it, but not before he sent another customer to that same lane 2 minutes after i told him it was broken. I have spent a LOT of time at shooting ranges both indoors and out. Shooters Express sets the bar for the lowest. I will not be a repeat patron. I express my dissatisfaction to some friends, and was not surprised to find they had similar experiences. more

This is the clean truth about shooters 3/20/2011

The shop is nice, but lacks brands, seems to catter to cheap black guns and Kimbers, which both are on the same level in my head. The guy before me talking about Dean, is right, he is a jerk, but the smith not knwining anything abotu 1911's, the store sells them, and he has no idea how to order simple items like grip screws. It's not rocket science. There are WAY too man knives, and way too FEW guns to choose from. If your not into Glock or Kimber, be prepared to get bored quickly and I would not drive over 15 minutes to get there, unless you want to shoot, at $15 an hour......lool, and the ammo fee is real Terry is the best, the new guys there are great, the Smith, Bill, who has no idea how ot work on 1911's, is also just as snotty as Dean, and it's really ""snobby"". The website is a complete joke, I really mean that seriously, it's so bad I could do better with Yahoo Site building and 20 minutes of my time and I am not trained or educated in web development. PAY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND GET A REAL SMITH. Not everyone needs a hunting rifle fixed....... BIGGEST PET PEEVE TIGHTEN THE FREAKING TARGET LINES UP, IT'S EXPENSIVE AND SOME OF US ACTUALLY DO WANT TO KEEP ON TOP OF OUR GAME, NOT SHOOT SWAYING TARGETS, IT'S SHAMEFUL WHAT THEY CHARGE FOR THE EXPERIENCE 7 TIMES OUT OF 10 I wish like hell someone else would open a range IN GASTONIA Ryan in the Range area is an awesome guy. Good luck, but I guess they have made it this far screwing people, don't see it ending. more

super afternoon 11/11/2010

I spent a good part of the afternoon here with my best friend. As we drove from Concord, we discussed the negative reviews from online shooters, and were a bit hesitant. I cannot fathom why there are so many bad comments. The range was not The Ritz, but I did not expect it. The staff from front to back was friendly, helpful, informative, quick to serve, but not pushy. The displays were organized and easy to view. OK, the ammo was a little over the WalMart price, but duhhh?.? We did not attempt to purchase items other than the ammo for the range, so encountered no ""dummies"", as one reviewer put it. I DID question a young man about the Kimber Ultra Carry II (Crimson), and he was more than knowledgeable . The experience was so good, we are probably returning tomorrow. PW more

Need to hire someone who knows guns 5/17/2010

Went in to purchase a set of super high scope rings.Kid behind the counter didn't know what I was talking about.I gave him my factory Ruger rings from from my Hawkeye rifle and told him I needed higher rings to mount a 50mm scope,he looked confused so he knocked on a door behind him and dummy # 2 emerges,I assume he is the shop ""gunsmith"",he said my rings were super high rings and he doubted I would be able to find any higher rings!Give me a break!I try to do business locally but when there is such a lack of knowledge in these shops you have to go to the internet.Ordered a set from Cabela's and had them in a few days.If you dont know anything about simple scope rings what are you doing working in a ""Gun Shop""..?? Cons: Lack of knowledge more

BRING MONEY, LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY 2/22/2010

I thought it was not that bad 10/1/2009

I read some of these bad reviews but I didn't think it was as bad as the review. They say the place is dirty but it's a gun range in an old warehouse in a redneck area gaston county. What do they expect? The Ritz Carlton? I do agree that I also used a bersa thunder and it did jam on me. But the people there were nice and helped me. I'm not really too experienced on handling a gun. Also they did overcharge me $2 for an extra target when I only used 1. When I noticed my receipt they said it would be a big hassle to refund my credit card $2 and to just remind them next time I come in. But the place is not that bad. I enjoy going there. Pros: Close to home. Cons: can't really think of any more

Overpriced and poor service 1/21/2009

Very high prices. Incredibly filthy range. Rental firearms in poor condition. My wife and I rented a pistol, .38 hammerless, and an AK 47 to test fire. The weapons were so poorly maintained that the ammunition we were forced to buy in order to rent had 4 misfires in 30 rounds. The AK had one misfire in 15 rounds. We expressed our dismay to the counter clerk who pretty much stated ""oh well"". We found the counter help in the sales area to be, well, rude.....needless to say we will not be returning to use the range nor will we consider spending our money with them. Pros: Lots of firearms and accessories in a well layed out showroom Cons: Exhorbitant prices, trashy range, poor service more

Shooters Express in Belmont, NC 6/18/2008

Their prices are WAY to high and their rental weapons are very poorly maintained. I rented a Sig P220 and it jammed on me three times in 30 minutes. My wife rented a Bersa Thunder .380 and it jammed twice in 30 minutes. We only used two boxes of ammo and the pistols were very dirty inside, a lot of carbon build-up. The lady took the weapons back and put them right back on the shelf without even looking at them....sad indeed. We got 30 minutes and when the time was up the guy turned the lights on and off over and over in the entire shooting range to tell us it was time to go. Very poor customer service and rude people. Go to Sportsman in Newport, SC MUCH BETTER!! Cons: Rude people, high prices, dirty weapons more
