Guaranteed Good-Great Experience 3/3/2012

I've been here at least a dozen times and the waitstaff is always attentive. The food have always arrived on time and with fresh ingredients, nicely decorated. I've never heard a complaint from any of my friends. I recommend the martini drinks. They're very strong. I've never been to the restaurant when it's not half priced off, but I don't think think the quality of the food would be different when it is half-priced off, unlike other places. I would completely recommend this place to anybody, especially to visitors . more

THE FOOD WAS AWFUL RAW TERRIBLE! THE SERVICE WAS WORSE except for one waiter. THE GROUP I WAS WITH WAS WAITING FOR THE LONGEST TIME EEVVVVERRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . THE FOOD ARRIVED COLD!!!!!!!!!!! IT MADE ME WANT TO THROW IT UP IMMEDIATELY!!!!!! THEY FORGOT PART OF MY ORDER! THE FOOD WAS THE WORST!!!!!!!! OTHERS CAME ALMOST 5 MINUTES BEFORE WE LFT AND HAD THIER FOOD!!!!!!! me and my partner would eat there 4 to 5 times a month until a few weeks back when we were sitting at our table eating, the the waiter along with the table of people started talking about gay's and the waiter said I know we have one that worked here he was to much I cant stand them..... I called the manager and told him we would never come back after what we had to hear, he beg us and pleaded for us to give him another chance. asked for my email to send me a letter and as you can guess it never came.... I might be gay but I have better taste then to eat a place that treats there customer with disrespect like that I feel like i was treated badly twice. please if you are or support gays do not eat there we are no welcome. more

Nice atmosphere, good prices, good sushi 2/19/2011

I really enjoy this place. I go there often and I really like the atmosphere. I have had several of their dishes and have never been disappointed. They have two for one sushi (which makes sense if you but two rolls of roughly the same value and nothing cheaper). You should also try their duck dishes. more

Good location, but mediocre sushi 1/18/2011

Firstly I only went to the restaurant once and it is quite possible that day was an off day, but the sushi was very sloppy and I can't believe they even served it like that to customers. I have gone to many sushi restaurants in the triangle and this restaurant is very low on my list. It does have a nice location close to the mall and other venues. I am unsure if I would go to this sushi restaurant again due to the poor preparation of the sushi. more

Not a good deal. 8/20/2010

I went on a Friday night for the buy 1 get 1 free deal. It was about a 45min wait. It seems like a good deal, but it's not after all the waiting and for sushi that is thoughtlessly created. They have about 100 different rolls, and it seems like they just put different ingredients together without any thought to taste or proportion. There is no art to their sushi whatsoever. The decor doesn't really go with the food, and the service was slow. Overall, the dining experience wasn't satisfying enough for me to go back there again. more

frozen raw fish 5/12/2010

I just went there last night with my friends. I was disappointed by the chirashi sushi don that the salmon is still frozen inside! It's like eating some frozen food that still have ice chunk in there, but in a bad way. I've never had any raw fish with ice in there and it's very sad that I had that at Shiki. Cons: too many people for them to focus on the food more

I dont think i would recommend this place since it just is way too expensive for the sloppy sushi rolls that they serve. That's why I started going to another place every time i wanted sushi. If you want quality rolls for a reasonable price, you wont find it here. Pros: seating variety, full bar Cons: pricey more

Shiki Sushi Is Marginal at Best 6/5/2009

If you have had good sushi with the best selection of fresh fish, rolled tight and to perfection, you will laugh and the 4-start rating and ""best sushi"" comments. Several people from Mexico, who really are that good at rolling sushi = faux sushi chef's. I have honestly had better rolled sushi from Harris Teeter. Mediocre food, Bad Management 6/1/2009

I've been to shiki sushi a few times for dinner in the two years. They do have a large variety of Asian dishes, as well as a sushi menu. The sushi isn't as good as the competition, especially considering the price. The last time I was there, a member of my dinner party had a complaint about his meal. The manager came out and had an argument with my friend, leaving everyone a bit upset and probably disturbing adjacent tables. LOVE the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sushi!! 4/13/2009

I absolutely LOVE the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sushi deal. Before finding Shiki 2 years ago, I had never really tried sushi because it was too expensive and I was afraid I wouldn't like it. But you can't go wrong at Shiki, everything I've tried has been delicious. I really like eel ( which I was nervous about trying but it doesn't taste anything like what it sounds like-- it has a very pleasant sweet taste) so I switch between the Sweet Dragon Roll and the Eel Fashion Roll. They both have eel and avocado, but the Eel Fashion also has cream cheese in it. For my second roll I always go with the Shiki Crunch roll that is topped with crunchy tempura crumbles and delicious eel sauce (a sweet, thick sauce not actually made from eel, just traditionally served along side eel dishes). At any other sushi place I either walk away still hungry or having dropped a ton of money. At Shiki I'm full on sushi for only $12. Pros: Great Deal!, tasty, varied menu more

OVERRATED 3/6/2009

This was my 3rd visit to this place. We were told it would be 30min for a table so we waited patiently. After seeing others arriving after us at 35min we questioned if our buzzer was working and was assured our table would be seated soon. Checked again at 50 min; same story. At 55min they realized they accidently scratched our number off and while they apologized we were not seated for another 5minutes. When we ordered, our waitress forgot to put in our appetizer order so we ended up cancelling that when our dinner arrived first. The ice tea I ordered was really warm as if they just added ice seconds before serving it and was way too sweet! The food is no better than your average Asian bistro, but more expensive. The atmoshpere is very noisy such that it is very hard to have a conversation and you leave with a headache. When trying to get our bill, it took an excessive amount of time. I am not sure what the attraction is to this place. The service is going downhill fast and I think there are better options. Cons: Noisy, poor service, expensive for average food more

my husband and i enjoy having our sushi dinners every once in a while and we usually come here. their sushi is quite good. their buy one get one free deal is enticing and helps, but we still end up spending too much $ b/c we want a taste of everything! other dishes are asian fusion style, not really authentic...very tasty, but portions are on smaller side and they fill up dishes with lot more veggies so you don't end up getting much of the meat or food. service has been fine. they get pretty busy, esp since expanding their restaurant, so expect to wait a bit. V-Day experience at Shiki 2/17/2009

First of all the hostess that was there was unprofessional and rude. I don't know what his name was but he was extremely rude and didn't know what he was doing. He was snapping at the other people at the front desk and very frazzled. We were originally told the wait was a certain time and then it was changed over and over again. Once we were sat at our table the service we received by the wait staff was great but the initial experience walking through the door was something to be desired. Cons: they play the music way toooo loud in the bar area!!! more

If you're looking for some ""teriyaki chicken"" go somewhere else, there's a Japan Express right down the street. Stiffing your server just makes you look ignorant. Pros: 2 for 1 sushi Cons: As a result of being in Durham, the place can have some rather incompetent servers, ask for Teddy. more

not a date option 11/29/2008

While the food and value is good, I would not recommend this as a date option. I just called and was told they do not take reservations unless you have a larger party. I asked what size is that... they only take reservations for parties of 7 or more! That's just crazy. Having to wait in line for a 'first come, first served basis' makes this restaurant a non-option for those that want dinner before another event. more

I see a lot of people give this place pretty bad reviews based on their reactions to receiving their checks. OF COURSE YOU'LL BE CHARGED FOR THE MOST EXPENSIVE SUSHI YOU ORDER. All buy 1 get 1 free deals in history charge you for equal or less value. Do you really think they'll ring up your $3.95 nigiri and not your $13 roll? Don't be dumb. Wow i just went to shiki last night i thought it was a great eating experience( great price and Food). I want everyone to know that they have Japanese food (hibachi), Chinese food like(orange chicken), and Thai food (panang curry, Thai spicy basil). Nice decor inside, great for date night or bring in the family. With new management in place this restaurant is a great addition within 1 mile of south point mall. more
