On a weekly basis a group of us go specifically for the garlic oysters. They are excellent. Pros: Great prices and great food more

Great Value 10/31/2004

I would highly recommend Shiki to anyone who asks. While I have not ordered much off the menu, the quality and freshness of the fish is fantastic given its distance from New York. I have lived in Manhattan and San Francisco, both snobby sushi cities, and I would place Shiki as one of the better sushi resturaunts I have eaten at in both cities. If you are looking for a Nobu or Sushi Ran, you're in for a disapointment, but if you want great fish at reasonable prices, this is the place. Pros: Fresh Fish, Good Service, Good value more

Mediocre at best 4/24/2003

The only reason I return to this Long Island dud is because it is the only Japanese restaurant I know of in NY that serve Soba soup which I love and is their only asset. It is packed all the time but I can't help but wonder why. The food is very bland, especially the yakitori and even the samurai steak could use a bit more marinade. The sushi is a bit of a let down as well especially the tuna which never seems to be fresh. The service is slow and the teenage wait staff are a bit rude. There are far better Japanese restaurants on Long Island, this one is not one I would recommend. Cons: Bland atmosphere, Insufficient parking, Rude wait staff more
