""PROCEED WITH CAUTION"" 1/8/2012

We called Shepherd's Mechanical to have 2 Heating and Air units installed. We had a good review from a friend that said they were great. We were told to call and ask for David however, David instead gave the jobs to his brother (Scott) saying we would be happy and satisfied with his work. Nothing could be further from the truth! On the first house, he would call and say he was on his way, or he would be there at a certain time and never show up. He would say he spent the night working in the home and the neighbor's said he was only there a couple of hours at a time. Keep in mind the home was empty so he had a key and plenty of time to install. The job took over a month and I am not sure at this time if the heating strips are even in the unit. The air through the vents in the home is minimal. Heat is not equal in any of the rooms of the home. Some rooms have no heat at all while others have too much. Never followed through with what was requested on the job. \r \r On the second home (THE HOME WE LIVE IN) we asked to keep the origional hard pipe in the home as we did not want flex line. He ripped out the hard pipe and installed the flex line. We had the air conditioning drip line going into the up-flush toilet line going out in our basement and asked him to use the same setup since it was already existing. He drilled directly into the up-flush line so every time the pump kicked in it spewed sewage into the unit and out onto the floor flooding the basement. We asked them to rent a machine and clean the carpet since our basement is an apartment but that wasn't done either. Instead, they brought a shop-vac to suck it up and some kind of liquid to kill the odor. Where new vents were installed, they left debrit on the floor from the sheet rock and patch plaster. Scott did the same thing he did at the other house, saying he was coming at a certian time or he was on his way then he would show up at almost midnight wanting to work or not show up at all. Our home as in the other house, has very little air coming through the lines in some rooms and too much in others. \r \r After numerous calls to David throughout this ordeal he has only kept sending his brother. On our last call to him, we explained we did not want Scott to return but at 20 minutes till midnight he returned to the other house, waking up the children on a school night and after being sent away he came to our home at midnight. We did not answer the door. At this point, we are considering taking this matter to court since David does not return our calls or answer our text messages. We will be having another company fix the mess in both homes so that we can have heat and air as was origionally agreed upon. My friend still says David is quite excellent at what he does however, we will never know as we have never even met the man. We can say his brother (Scott) is more than a huge disappointment and would not recommend him to anyone. So if you use this company and they tell you they are sending David's brother, tell them ""NO THANKS"" and find somebody else!\r \r more

Atlanta's most trustworthy HVAC experts!! 4/18/2010

As long as I'm living in the Atlanta area, I plan on patronizing David Powell and his team. I first learned of Shepherd's Mechanical when he worked into one very hot summer evening fixing my mother's air conditioning system. He was honest about the estimate on a work order, when others were not. I was happy to see the relief in my mother when the job was completed without depleting her wallet. \r \r Ever since I bought my own home, I've been using Shepherd's Mechanical and have had similar positive experiences with Anthony Powell, who never fails to come out (usually on the same day) to solve emergency dilemmas with my aging HVAC & water heater. I've learned a lot because they are very open about every aspect of the work they do. Shepherd's also has an affordable annual contract that will cover all regular maintenance & provide extreme discounts for emergencies. I can't say enough good things about them. It's easy to patronize trustworthy people! \r \r Karen Pros: Extremely dependable. more
