Worst

I went for dinner on a Saturday night (7pm) with two girlfriends and it felt a bit like they were serving an early bird special. This restaurant definitely pulls in an older crow...

Worst Meal Out I've Had in Years 8/6/2011

Parents were visiting and we were going to go to Francesca's but I had heard so many great things about Marina Cafe that I made reservations there instead. The maitre d and wait staff were pleasant and accomodating but the food was a ""D"". The prix fixe?? Forget about it. Heck prix fixe sizes are usually always smaller than entree sizes BUT for $24.95 my dad got a 4""x3"" breaded hash brown thing that looked like it came right out of a box and worse the yellow fin tuna? He got what looked like silver dollar size toast points - FOUR 1.5"", 1/4"" thick triangles of tuna - we're talking maybe 3oz tops. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life. I had ordered a $17 surf and turf mesclun salad. The ""bed"" of greens was miniscule and the three jumbo shrimp were cold and rubbery like the chef and cooked them all the night before. The filet mignon was tender but again cold and I got maybe 3oz of meat tops. Unreal. Seriously the chef was NOT running that kitchen well and Gordon Ramsay would have a field day in there. My waiter confided that the chef they had had just left abruptly and the new chef didn't know what he was doing. Whatever. I highly doubt I will be going back. HUGELY overrated and simply a terrible $150 dinner! ugh! more

Food good but service very bad 10/26/2010

I attended a birthday party there on 10/20/10. The tables were setup in a ‘U’ shape so that the servers used the inner space to deliver food and drinks to people seated both in the inner and outer part of the ‘U.’ If you were on the inner part of the ‘U’, as I was, you had servers leaning on your shoulders to deliver to both sides of the table.....a bad setup.\r \r A tall, shaven- head server in back of me wound up slamming me in the back of the head with his elbow. I felt like someone punched me in the back of the head. Wound up with a headache and the back of my head was sore for several days.\r \r Although the food was good, I won’t go back to that facility. If you want a pleasant experience, I suggest you find another place. more

Always GREAT! 12/12/2009

This place is awesome. Ive been comingb here since i was a kid in Brooklyn. Now that we live on the island, we try to eat here at least once a month.\r \r When the Dockside Tiki bar is open, I'm there almost every night.\r \r Great Food, Great Service and outrageous views. Pros: Everything is fresh Cons: Dockside is only opean in summer more

good food with great atmosphere 4/27/2009

There are good days and bad days in every restaurant .I dont care what anyone says. Ive been to the best and the worst. You can ,however accurately judge a place only after several dinning experiences in that establishment. 1 out of 10, I give it a 10 for decor an 8 for food and a 7 for service and its a very busy place they must be doing something wright. In my book of judging these old timers have the catch of the day. Pros: fresh seafood and very beautiful interior Cons: a bit slow on service more

Yuck! 3/10/2009

Filet Mignon medallions encrusted in fat. Disgusting. Overcooked Red Snapper with a texture of hay. I honestly can't belive people eat here. Mussels were chewy. We walked out with $128 bill and headed for Trattoria Romana. This is one of the worst places we have EVER eaten. more

Dock Side outside cafe - impolite and untrained waiters and worse than bar food 8/24/2008

On a recent weekend afternoon, I took my family and our neighbor for a drink and light meal. \r With open air dining and in between main dining hours, we decided for simple combination of appetizers and alcoholic drinks. We were surprised by the look of the waiter and her repeated hints that we did not order a main entree despite the fact that we had each order appetizers to share and drinks. This open space cafe have a limited menu and the entree options did not entice us. \r \r Within 20 minutes of our ""experience"" a waiter grab two of our unfinished appetizer then asked ""you are done with this right?"" After we said no, another waiter came 15 minutes later grumbling and said ""are you done with these"" while lifting the food away. So we said no again. On the third attempt within that same hour, two of the waiters said loudly to his friend with blatant hint to me that he wants us out. ""They just want to enjoy the cool air and not wanting anything else."" .. and again grabbing my unfinished plate.\r \r Giving the benefit of the doubt of any biased treatment, the food is well below bar food standard. The calamari presentation and quality was well below average. An $11 baked quiche-like appetizer presented on four shells was rudimentary. I've had much better treatment and quality of food at an Irish bars than this establishment. \r \r Having traveled around the U.S., especially small town U.S.A., I have never expect such a treatment and banal food quality in my own neighborhood. \r \r \r Pros: The view Cons: Poor service and non-family friendly more

Great View and Delicios food. 4/30/2008

I went to Marina Cafe few times and the food was very delicious. The view of the Marina is great. If possible, ask for a windown table. The interior is nice, the waitstaff is very friendly and helpful. The previous revews are right regarding the dockside. They do have different menu for the outdoor cafe. Pros: Food, and the view more

DOCKSIDE - HORRIBLE FOOD & BAD ATTITUDE! 8/2/2007

The outside area (DOCKSIDE) is great but the food STINKS. We ordered Ceasar salads with shrimp. We waited 25 minutes for our food (the place was empty) and the shrimp were cold as in ""shrimp cocktail"". Tasted terrible. My friend sent her's back and asked for grilled shrimp. The waitress had a bad attitude. When we got the bill, we saw that one of the salads was $15 and the other was $20! They had added $5 to the bill because the shrimp were grilled. $20 for a mediocre Ceasar salad with shrimp! Overall, THE FOOD IS BELOW AVERAGE AND OVER PRICED. The BAD ATTITUDE of some of the waitresses leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. There are better and friendlier places on the island. Pros: Nice outside seating area Cons: Limited menu, Mediocre overpriced food, Poor service more

great view & good view 7/8/2007

I went for dinner on a Saturday night (7pm) with two girlfriends and it felt a bit like they were serving an early bird special. This restaurant definitely pulls in an older crowd. There is a dockside restaurant, which is separate and seems very different. There were happy hour signs and picnic-like tables set up when we took a peek at the dockside section.\r \r The hostess inside the restaurant was very helpful and showed us to a table right near the window with a great view of the marina. We weren't sure what to eat so the waiter helped and his recommendations were very good. Two of us had the sole stuffed with crabmeat, which was delicious. One of us had the sea bass and asked for it well done... but it wasn't well done. The banana dessert was absolutely delicious. Pros: great views Cons: crowded parking lot more

Good 11/4/2003

Everything is good. Not great, but good. No complaints, reasonably priced. I go for luch frequently and usually order Land&Sea - filet mignon & stuffed shrimp. When I stray from that, the other food is good too. Pros: great for large group more
