Sheena's Dance Academy

TERRIBLE experience. I have 4 boys who are really into music. We wanted to check out the Hip Hop Dancing class. It was our first time there so we have a lot of questions and concerns. There were two offices behind the receptionist area. For every single question we ask, the receptionist had to step into this office, ask the question, then came out to response to us. After 5 concerned questions, you would think who ever behind that door would get their off their lazy seat and come out to address the 4 potential customer's concerns/questions. That NEVER happened. I think the person behind that office believed that she is the president of the United State of America and it is too important to be speaking to a customer. The receptionist got tired of walking back and forth a few steps and become irritated with her responses to us. We felt unwelcome and definitely rudely treated. We are definitely looking for another place to go. more

Do not go there!!!! This school is terrible. Rude staff and don't care about children at all. I was enrolled all year and was in tears after Recital. We had to change in the bathroom with wet floors and dirty trash everywhere. Some guy, who wasn't even employee decided not to let me in the dressing room, just because. My daughter is only 3 and couldn't change by herself, she missed her dance and they didn't even apologized. One teacher quit a month before recital because she lost her baby and new teacher didn't do anything, they were making art, instead of dancing. Big waste of money over all $2000.00 for a year. more

Having already experienced several of the other dance schools in Frisco before taking my children to Sheena's, we have truly enjoyed our experience at Sheena's. I have three children at Sheena's 6, 10, and 14. The instructors have always conducted themselves in a very professional manner and my children have learned so much.....correctly. Miss Sheena and her entire staff have been always been very welcoming and helpful to our family, as well as others at the studio. I spend quite a bit of time at Sheena's and have watched them interact with the children and parents. Very nice people who run a great business and have hired caring, professional instructors. They definitely know what they are doing!!! more

TERRIBLE ALL AROUND...I withdrew my daughter, after dancing at Sheena's for the past 3 months. Most of the teachers are terrible, the office staff is horrible & even the owner Sheena is rude. I would not recommend this dance studio to any one. Try Legacy Dance Academy in Frisco instead! more

The only objective of this place is to make money. The only way to move up in level is how much money you spend and how long you're been there. The management is only nice to you for your first week or so, and then you become no one important. While waiting for my daughter, I noticed two different girls who were new and were sitting alone. I asked my daughter about it and she told me the dancers there are stuck up, and are only friendly if I you've been there your whole life. As of next week, I am taking my daughter out of this awful place, and going to visit new dance studios in our area. You would be much better off at either Hathaway Academy of Ballet, or Dance Industry Performing Arts Center. Summary: Do not come here. more

After attending a different local dance school this past year, I decided to look into other options for my two young daughters. After visiting numerous schools to try and find the fit that was right for our family, we enrolled our girls at Sheena's this summer and have had a great experience. The instruction, interest, and care for the children, in addition to the amount we are now paying compared to last year, is what we have been looking for since moving here summer 2009. Me and my girls love it there and feel very welcomed. more

Sheena Dance Academy is nothing but a money-making machine. Management is rude and impolite. Especially the Front Desk Lady. I enrolled my daughter in Four Days Dance Summer Camp. The registration fees was a hefty amount of $180. it is not the amount that they are charging , it is Management's attitude towards their clients which made me decide that I am not sending my daughter there again. I never felt welcome in the school. The front desk lady always seemed busy to answer any of my inquiries., never had a smile on her face. Except for one time, when she had to ask me for money..she greeted me as soon as I entered the door. There are many dance schools in Frisco...try those before you decide to enroll in Sheena's Dance class. more

I enrolled my 3 year old into their toddler ballet/tap class...the teacher came in late on the 1st day, all the parents were waiting outside the studio....the teacher was even chewing a gum while teaching....very impatient and actually put my toddler to sit in the corner 3x!....i was outside the window observing...daughter was dancing and having fun though not following the steps, two kids were put to sit in the corner, including my daughter...very disappointed...a teacher assigned to teach a toddler class should at least be loving to kids!! Sheena's dance Academy is a great school of dance. Just because of a few peoples experience wasn't perfect does not mean everyone will be treated the same. I have been going to Sheenas as long as I have lived here in Texas. When I first came i was 8 and not a very good dancer compared to the other kids my age. By all of the amazing training sheena's dance academy has provided me with I have come so far in the dance world. Studios with so many students like Sheena's have to be strict. This is my fifth year at sheena's and I am on The Frisco Ballet, Competition team, Show company and more. At Nationals this year I recieved 1st runner up Jr. Miss Starbound! Thank you Miss Sheena and Ms.Anne for running such a great studio :) Pros: Great classes more

I agree with the previous reviewer. We signed up in the school that our daughter was attending. They sent home a packet for the recital. We did not respond. They billed us for the Tickets $40 like the previous reviewer has said. Also they billed us for the dress too which we did not get. I don't remember how much money it was exactly. But it was expensive. When called to ask for a refund, they were not nice, and said that we did not call to cancel and that we would be automatically be signed up if we did not call to cancel .This to me is not right. We contacted the school too, the school director did not wanted to get invovled. more

I would not recommend this place to any parents. These folks are rude, unprofessional and are only after money. Its a money-making racket; dance is secondary. They hook you slowly. First, they ask you if you to participate in the recital. Once you are locked in, the extortion begins. $65 for a dress, $25 for shoes, $40 for tickets!! Nothing is refundable. At the end of it all, you have spent $100+ for a 3-minute recital. They prey on your emotions, because you don't have the heart to deny your daughter a chance to participate. We got NO feedback on how our daughter was performing. No communication of any kind. We will be complaining to the BB bureau. I cannot believe this business has been doing this for 12 years. Sheena's Dance Academy is an amazingly wonderful place to dance. I have been going to Sheena's for 8 years and have never had a problem with it. Ms. Sheena and Ms. Ann are amazing people, they are like my second set of parents since i'm at the studio more than I am at home. I know them personally and I know they would never lie to me or anyone else for that matter. C: I love that atmosphere and vibe I get from all the teachers and friends I have there. I'm on the competitive, hip hop, and show company as well as the frisco ballet. We also do very well at competitions and get outstanding technique awards AND I greatly thank Ms. Sheena and her staff for that. Thanks to MS. Sheena and her staff I have been accepted to dance with the Dallas Black Dance Theatre. :]] I would highly HIGHLY recommend Sheena's and have before. All the people I recommend to Sheena's love it there. Sheena's Dance Academy is not the best studio for your child. Technique is imperative for your young dancer and their future. You will find that quality training is not offered from Sheena or her staff. I danced at Sheena's for many years and my parents spent thousands of dollar on over priced classes, only to find that my experience was a 'joke' in the dance world. Sheena has lied about her dance experience and published false resumes claiming she danced with companies that have never even heard of her name! more

I'm a dancer and choreographer that had recently moved to the ""Metroplex"" from Austin looking for the dance community in the area. I had been doing a lot of research with a lot of dead ends. The dance scene in North TX seems to be very different and when I came across Sheena's Dance Academy I thought I might have found something good. They like to advertise themselves as the ""it"" of the town. My exchange with one of their staff members online last year was disappointing, it was like they as a business where not interested in bringing in customers. I asked for a simple question about adult classes and it became a national security issue. The staff member proceeded to inform me in a rather rude tone, that their adult classes are very popular and booked at the moment. She never answered my question about what days and what times the adult classes were offered! I asked again for future reference never got my answer by the way. I also asked about any other schools that may offer classes for adults and she responded by directing me to junior colleges in the area and suggesting that they may ALLOW me to join their classes! This business does not get what CUSTOMER SERVICE is about and or providing the customer with information let alone treating people with respect!!! more

As a overall experience I felt like I waisted a lot of money. The people at the front desk are rude. They talk down to you. My daugter's instructor looked like she would rather be sleeping. For the recital it cost over a hundred dollars for a two minute performance. The out fit were given the four days before and were to big and just plain wrong.
