The Sheba is easily my favorite establishment in San Francisco. The food is amazing, particularly the bass and the lega tibs, in my estimation, and the pomengrenate meatballs are to die for. I go there every chance I can, usually comfortably able to get a seat at the bar, though if one comes in a bit late, don't be surprised if the bar is full. Going to the Sheba is not like any other lounge I've been too. Being a regular definitely has perks, always being greeted warmly, asked what you're up to, how you've been. It isn't like going out so much as visiting a friend. A friend who happens to have excellent food and excellent drinks. The drink selection is quite good, and most cocktails one could desire are available, as well as a handsome wine selection, including amazing honey wine. The staff is helpful and polite and often quite willing to talk. Israel and Nette are lovely, always so friendly. The lounge area is particularly nice, around a fireplace. Great to sit with friends after a long day, relax, have a few drinks, and just soak in the feeling of the room. One never feels rushed or in a hurry to go, and, honestly, sometimes I just wish I could stay there all the time. There is no greater stress reliever in the city I have seen then to spend a few hours, or a whole night, in the Sheba.
