I completely agree! Ever since the new owners-James and his wife-bought the place it has gone DOWN hill. The main reason to go there was to see The Wrest and they got rid of them and they continue to make bad decisions. Sharky's has become a trashy and even more disgusting place! The food and smoke is HORRIBLE along with the rest of the joint. It's like they are catering to the street walkers and their friends and every other redneck. Do yourself a favor and stay away! I'm just happy The Wrest has a new home - Bar Louie which is smoke-free ! Tons of room for LOTS of people! I will NEVER step foot in that awful, smoky, disgusting and trashy place! RIP Sharky's! more

Have been a regular here since the doors opened. Unfortunately the place has deteriorated so much it is time to close this place. The owner (James) uses the place as his personal pick up bar looking for any woman he can find. The service is terrible, the drinks are watered down, and the food is disgusting. The entire place is dirty and smoky. The help look like street thugs from Gilpin Court.\r \r The ONLY reason anyone had to go was to hear the Wrest on Wednesdays and Fridays, but unfortunately they are no longer there (probably another bright decision by James). \r \r Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. There are so many other options in the west end that are MUCH better than anything this place has to offer. more

I have been a regular at Sharky's for several years, and I have to say my trips there are becoming less-frequent. Many years ago, this place was a great place to go to unwind. The drinks were good, the waitstaff was attentive and the band was amazing! My friends and I would spend many nights a week in there dancing and drinking the night away. However, now things have changed, and not for the good. The drinks are weak (and expensive) and the waitstaff always seems to be too busy to be attentive to your needs. Add to that the unbelievably smoky atmosphere, awful bathroom facilities, and bad food, and they have created a recipe for disaster. The only good thing about Sharky's anymore is the band. The Wrest rocks it out of the park! Honestly, if it weren't for them, I might never go to Sharky's. more

I went with a out of town guest who didn't have an ID on him at the time. I as wondering if we could still use the pool table without the guest drinking. The bouncer who was also the bartender was rude from get go and in response to my question started using cuss words. If he was a little less provocative we would have gone back with an ID since I live only a couple of mins from this place. Needless to say we left and we are never going back. Just visited Sharky's this last Wed after Slightly Stoopid at Innsbrook and had a blast! Not very crowded but plenty of fun. Waitresses were nice and it was easy to get a drink from the bar (bartenders were cool too!)! Unlike BAR LOUIE! Anyway, it was fun and the band from Innsbrook was there partying as well. Definitely my favorite place for a Wed! more

Let me start by saying that I have been a loyal customer of Sharky's for years and while ownership has changed most of the faces have remained the same. There is a band ""The Wrest"" that plays every wednesday and friday, and let me tell you they are great! On thursdays and saturdays the lead singer Pat Obrien plays solo which makes the mood a little more mellow but still is a blast. I frequent Sharky's 2-3 times a week and always have a blast. The new waitress that takes care of us on fridays is pretty slow but like I said she is new. The drinks are always great, if you ask me sometimes a little too strong. If going to the bar always try to avoid the bald guy who has a horrible attitude, however the tall guy and the one with the beard are awesome. The only major problems with Sharky's is there is no foosball, no darts, and it always seems very smokey inside. The ventilation leaves a little something to be desired but no one is perfect. All in all I recommend Sharky's to anyone looking for a relaxed fun environment with the best cover band in town! Pros: The band, the bar, the drinks, well everything! Cons: smokey inside more

This is the worst place ever. Have to say that food and atmosphere seem more like the docks that the suburbs. I don't much care what the wait staff look like but the owner seems to be some sort of comic book character! Don't waste your time if you want someplace to relax and have a little fun. Not sure what the bad rap is all about with Sharkys! Nothing has changed as far as atmosphere except the food is better and the wait staf is hotter than ever. If you believe the info mentioned below from these 2 jokers you should hang somewhere else. The drinks at this bar have never been better as well as the service. The new girls are friendly as well as the door staff. Some people come in and expect to get away with whatever they want. These day , that just does not happen. Respect the bar and they respect you! I love Sharky's because I have FUN there. Outside on the pation and inside dancing. By the way the NEW SUNDAY FOOTBALL schedule is there DTV BABY! Sunday Ticket! 10 dollar buffet! GOOD TIMES! Just spent an amazing night at SHARKY?S watching the opening NFL game. The big screen TVs make you feel like you?re at the stadium. I know where I?ll be spending all my Sundays!!! I have been going to bars in the Richmond area for years, and I always go to the same places. I have been going to Sharky's bar and Grill for years now. The place use to be a great place to have a few beers and chat with friends. The staff was very friendly and the management seemed to appreciate your business. They have a good band called the WREST but it can get old at times hearing the same band every Wed, Thurs, Friday and Sat night. We used to be able and play music on the jukebox when the band wasn't playing. I used to order food there as well yes I know I don't want to get too critical about the food since its only bar-food! Wednesdays and Fridays and Saturdays used to be packed with some fun people. The waitresses were very attractive and we really got use to seeing the same girls all the time. You could go in three weeks later and they always remembered what you drank. Now here's the change..... What the hell happened?. What happened to the hot waitresses? Trust me there is only a few . You cant play music anymore, since the bouncer "" got's to play his thugged out music every freaking 30 minutes.. I don't know about you but if I wanted to hear that s*it all the time then I would go downtown to AFTER 6... Its very obvious the management has either A. changed or B. just don't care anymore. I did get a chance to witness the management and well, what can you say! I believe he had on the same outfit.. Was it the guy in the tight Under Armour shirt and jeans with holes with flip flops? LOL! Oh yeah and when I was in there the cook, I think ( he was dressed in a chef's uniform) was hanging out with some of the people inside the bar smoking a cigarette.. I would be scared to order food from this place. In one room there were people playing a video golf game and screaming and punching the screen..What the hell? I used to be a regular at sharky's a while back however due to the fact that I have been very busy with work I hadn't been able to visit in about 5-6 months. What used to be my favorite bar in the area to visit had changed completely since my last visit. Sharky's in my opinion was always known for its great service, good music and professionalism of the staff. Two of which were still intact, the professionalism however was long gone. The well dressed easily recognized staff was replaced by polo shirts, and the ""manager"" as I came to find out was also the owner looked like a character from a cartoon show wearing a sequined tight fiting spandex looking shirt with flip-flops. The band was not playing this particular evening so I proceeded to put money in the jukebox, only to overhear the bouncer say that he couldn't stand to listen to my music anymore. He then went to the jukebox himself and cut all of my music out. When I approached the manager he at first didn't understand a word I was saying and basically told me that ""thats the way things go"" and maybe if I stayed around a while I would hear my music. Needless to say the new ownership proves the old addage, newer isn't always better. I will not be visiting sharky's ever again. THe staff at Sharkeys is hands down the most professional and polite in Richmond. As far as the review about the bouncers.... they are the best I have ever seen in controling a sometimes hectic atmosphere. Many clubs have a no pic rule... hey what goes on in the club stays in the club. And as far as this other review about the bouncers.. I remember that incident ... the table was drunk and stupid. It seems some people think that because they might have a couple of hundred bucks to spend on shots that makes it ok for them to act like they own the place and anyone else around that is perhaps not as drunk as they are. \r The band on wed and fridays is the best all around dance band ... for all ages... \r Ps. One of the bouncers just bought the place... and he is the one who makes it so good to go ... he keeps out the riff raff... and hopefully that company! After throwing a business party, which was handled very well by the establishment, a bouncer became abusive towards my guests simply for taking a photograph, which resulted in a large conflict. Although the waitress and bartending service were wonderful, the security staff was unnecessarily pushy and abusive.
