You know when you find yourself looking for something specific to wear and you can't find it or afford it? Or when you see a celebrity wearing something to die for and you want the EXACT same thing? Often you are left disappointed. Well now that I found Sew Special in Chicago, I don't have to feel disappointment any longer. I had an amazing experience with them! I stumbled upon Sew Special when I was shopping around for an affordable dressmaker. By the way, DO NOT go to SALON OF DRESSMAKING on Oak Street, I had a bad experience. RUDE people there and charge WAY toooo much! However Sew Special Tailors in Chicago is the place to turn to when you need something stitched up. My gown reflects an Oscar dress down to every stitch. It has quality and you can tell that the tailors put extra care in making this dress for me from SCRATCH! I was demanding, and they were patient. Going forward, I don't have to worry about where I can turn to for any of my sewing needs; I have found my go to Tailors. What's great about Sew Special is that it's a family owned business which includes May and her son Mike; two of the most patient people in the Tailoring business. I am in awe and very satisfied. Highly recommended! Pros: Patience, affordable, professional, great final product! Cons: Super busy on the weekends, but that's because they're GREAT! more

After looking all over the world for the perfect dress and not finding it, I came to sew special customs and they got the job done. My prom dress is just as i wanted it to be. The dress was made for me was exactly the way I wanted they made it to perfection. I love it. I would definetely refer anybody to this buisness. I appreciate all the hard work and dedication they put into making the dress and also the vest for my date. more

I came to Sew Special expecting professional tailor services for reasonable prices. I didnt expect the same feel and precision that you might find on Oak St. but I didn't want to pay those prices either. I regret my decision. They even provide tailoring service, but I primarily use them for dry cleaning my shirts. They have quick turnaround, and always provide courteous service. Pros: Treat you like your the "King" Cons: Get busy and sometimes a wait is in order. more

They still have my dress to this day... 5/15/2006

To make a long story short - I was never quoted a price prior to the alterations - when I came back to get my dress the bill was $75.00 after the woman told me it would be reasonable and not to worry about it. $75.00 is not reasonable to me by any means and I did worry about it...I never got my dress back because after speaking to the manager they would only lower the price $10.00...outrageous! Pros: Quick, Good Location Cons: EXPENSIVE, Kept my dress! more
