excellent food...poor service 7/31/2010

My wife and I went on the recommendation of many here. The food was excellent, some of the best here in Dallas. However, the service had a lot to be desired. It's a family run business...I get it. But, is it too much to ask for the waitresses to simply say hello and thank you? Is it too much to ask for them to have a smile on their face? They looked like they didn't want to be there. Their attitude made that clear. I'd say to the owners, be careful, many of us go out to eat for both the food and atmosphere. You have the food down, but your service may cause others like myself, to choose another place to dine at. Pros: food! Cons: service more

Great place to eat 7/11/2010

I love their salad, pies, kabobs and hummus. The lady who served us was very friendly. Decor could be updated a little. Pros: Great food Cons: Not open very late more

Starlight93 9/10/2009

Not trying to start anything but the picture for ""starlight93"", I can't help but notice that you are an employee at Sevan. I have been in there many times and I recognize you from your picture. While I know you must be proud of where you work or you would not have taken the time to come on here and write what you did, I also don't think this is a fair practice. I also think it is extremely unprofessional for you to call out other reviewers. If you offer a salad on your menu it should be up for review just as any other item is. Lastly, you are exaggerating a bit on the average price of an entree. It is not $9 but closer to $12 or $13. Not that there is a huge difference but that is misleading for potential diners. Just wanted to put this out there. more

Sorry to say... 9/5/2009

Going off the reviews on here my boyfriend and I decided to try this place last night. We're new in town and big foodies so we're always looking for restaurants that are unique and have something different to offer. I hate to hinder the love here but I have to say this place was a huge disappointment. This was not helped by the fact that we drove almost 50 miles round trip (we're in Arlington) to eat here. Right off the bat I was not impressed by the menu. The food seemed like pretty simple Greek fare that could easily be prepared at home for a lot cheaper. It's not that a lot of the food didn't sound good but again I'm not going to pay $15 for grilled chicken and roasted vegetables that I can prepare in my kitchen any night of the week. We decided to start off with the roasted eggplant dip. It was okay; not terrible, not great. We then both decided to get the grilled chicken salad. (Not planned that way just happened to be the only thing that either of us could half way get excited about since at least it did mention a homemade dressing and an array of vegetables) The salad was a good salad. It was plentiful in chicken and did have all the mentioned vegetables...sort of. My salad had no bell peppers whatsoever, not the first one. My boyfriend's salad, however, was loaded with them. Not even exaggerating I would say he had the equivalent of an entire bell pepper in his salad. Since he loathes bell peppers I felt really bad for him but offered to take some of them off his hands. The place was not busy at all. Plenty of empty tables which I found odd for a Friday night between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. Although they were not busy the service was extremely slow. I asked for a refill when our meal came and received one approximately 10 minutes later. When we were finished eating we sat there with our forks and napkins on our plates clearly indicating we were finished eating. After another 10 to 15 minutes of sitting like this with no acknowledgment from the staff I called our server over and asked for our ticket. After another 5 minutes or so she came back from the kitchen, empty handed, looked at our table and did the ""Ohh"" and went back to return with our ticket a few more minutes later. Obviously I was not at all impressed by this place. The food was decent but all factors considered I was pretty disappointed to drive 50 miles and spend around $40 (drinks, tax, and tip included) for eggplant dip and two salads. Pros: No wait for a table Cons: Quite a few more

Fantastic food/prices/decor/service 8/13/2009

We learned about this restaurant because the owners were our neighbors. I didn't think I would like Lebanese food, but I just flew all the way back from SD after we moved there, to come back and eat George and Grace's food. How is that for dedication to their cooking. They believe in only using the freshest, best ingredients and will except nothing less. Their children help out once in a while and are learning great Christian, American values and how to work hard and enjoy our freedoms. We love their Cafe and would recommend everyone to try it out. You too will be a fan for life! I love their shrimp curry and my daughter loves their chicken Kabob! Pros: Everything is awesome Cons: Can't eat there every meal or I would be huge more

Best Greek Food in Dallas! 2/2/2009

I discovered SEVAN close to a year ago. The hand-made fresh hummus won my heart over from the start, but I have since grown to love everything on the menu. They make all of their food fresh daily and they use organic ingredients. Another thing that keeps bringing me back is the fact that this is a family owned and operated restaurant. I eat out ALOT and tend to frequent the same restaurants over and over. Sevan is the only place that recognizes me by name. It's a good feeling at the end of the day. Great customer service, GREAT food, great experience!!! and its BYOB Pros: BYOB, Fresh Food made Daily, Hookas more

Awesome food in a casual, friendly environment 1/14/2009

We LOVE this place!!! George and Grace (the owners) are so warm and welcoming every time we come in and the food is delicious. The BYOB option is great -- bring what you love from home or you can purchase at the liquor store next door. It's the perfect place to sit with friends and catch up while eating your favorite Mediterranean delights. Everything we've ever ordered here has been good, but we almost always order a mazza plate (dolmas, eggplant dip and humus) and the chicken tawook. Both are excellent! This is not a trendy, see-and-be-seen atmosphere, so if that's what you're looking for, this isn't your place. But if you're looking for delicious food in a warm and friendly environment, there's no where better! more

Incredibly delicious! 11/20/2008

This has been our favorite cafe since we tried it a couple of years ago. It is our ""go to"" place for birthdays, anniversaries, etc... because--we can bring our favorite wine, it is very reasonably priced, great ambiance, family owned and friendly--but most important--it is in our opinion, the best food in Dallas, TX. Every meal there has been perfectly prepared and presented. My husband loves the gyro plate and I try everything including the Chicken tawook (kabob), grilled talapia, Kashmir chicken, various salads, and homemade baklava. Pros: Best food. Cons: Parking more

Give it a try...I think you'll like it! 9/18/2008

We love Sevan! The food is great and the B.Y.O.B. really saves you money. We usually grab a bottle of wine from next door, across the street, or from home and head to Sevan fo some great food. Remember, this is a family operation, there may be a 10-year old boy playing Game Boy at the bar on a Wednesday night with his homework workbook next to him, his dad is manning the kitchen, and his sister is working the dining room, but hey, America, welcome to the rest of the world! more

My favorite restaurant 7/19/2008

Great food reasonable prices and excellent service at Sevan G&G cafe. Best dinning experiance I have had in a long time. First of all we were seated when we arrived within less than one minute. Their hummus, and egplant dip are the best I have ever had. The pistashio chiken is their specialty and it's delicoius! Also, my friends ordered the gyros plate and the talapia. The gyros plate was filling and the meat was awsome. The talapia was light and perfectly seasoned it was served with rice and grilled veggies. Our service was prompt and attentive. Our waitress was very courteous and our table was kept clean of dirty dishes. I can't wait for the next time I go to try something different, I am sure I won't be disipointed! They are B.Y.O.B. and serve Hookahs as well! Pros: Everything was made to perfection Cons: None more

Best mediterranean food in dallas 5/3/2008

Great dinning experience! We go to Sevan about once a week and we try new things everytime, and its always tasty and fresh! Best eggplant and hummus I have had, there is also this walnut dip that is unique and very delicious with red wine. The mazza plate is a good sampler appitizer and the mix kabob is great sampler entree. They also have the best gyros ever! The chicken and lamb kabobs are well seasoned and grilled. The prices are reasonable, we pay about $30 - 40 when we go. The family that opperates it is great and caring, you won't feel like its corporate-owned! You'll have to try it for yourself! Pros: BYOB, food, Service (Everything) Cons: None more

Great Food/Avoid Friendly Behavior with the Owner 5/2/2008

The food is fabulous here and I only know because I used to help make it. Definitely try the pistachio chicken as it is far and away the most delectable dish on the menu. Beware of becoming too friendly with the owner or he could misinterpret your intentions or maybe he has learned his lesson!!! Pros: BYOB, great food more

Best chicken Kabob in Dallas 12/29/2007

I tried the chicken kabob at Sevan a few days ago and it was the best I have ever had!! It came with a garlic sauce which was excellent! I also liked the rice and grilled veggies that were with it as well. I had the greek salad as well it was fresh, and tasty. I also ordered baklava at the end it was perfect and not too sweeet. I recommend this place to anyone looking for good food, price, and service. Pros: healthy fresh food , B.Y.O.B more

You will be hooked once you eat at Sevan...... 12/11/2007

My husband and I eat at Sevan once a month and have for 3 years. We have taken many friends that are virgins to Greek/Mediterranean food and they have always loved it and want to go back. Kashmir chicken is so good and I don't like curry. This dish has a very mild curry taste to it and is deivine. The amtosphere is wonderful and it's kid friendly. We spend every Valentines and New Years Eve at Sevan. Enjoy! Pros: Food is excellent and staff is very nice. Cons: Getting your bill can take a while. more

Awesome gyros, best customer service 5/10/2007

We go here a couple times a month for dinner and always enjoy every experience. The restraurant is family owned and operated and very personable. You can dine in (and bring a bottle of wine from next door) or carry out. We'll be moving out of the area soon and will continue to drive 20+ miles just for the service and the food! more
