Maybe it was an off day but i just wasn't into this food. I have been a vegetarian for a while and the food here was just uninspiring. Good choice if you don't have any choices.

A Healthy Alternative 1/25/2007

Second Helpings has a varied menu of sandwiches (on wheat or spelt bread), wraps, soups, entrées, juices, baked goods and desserts for vegetarians, vegans and non-vegetarians. Most of the staff is knowledgeable about ingredients and preparation, and can tell you what's vegan, dairy-free, wheat-free, gluten-free, etc.; however, it would help if the dishes were better labeled in this regard. The food usually seems quite fresh, but I suspect some of the entrées and sides occasionally appear for more than one day. If not, it sometimes looks that way. The staff has been consistently friendly and helpful over the years. Service is only slow when there's a bottleneck in the restaurant, which happens from time to time because this is a popular eatery. If you're eating in, be prepared to bus your own table. They also offer catering and seasonal/holiday menus. more

Slow But Steady 5/25/2006

Don't be in a rush when you head to Second Helpings. They take their sweet time preparing your meal in the small kitchen. The ingredients are fresh and they specialize in wraps and salads. I like the cobb wrap. ALl the lunch meals come with crisp, but a little oily, homemade potato chips. Conveniently located near Prospect Park it's great spot to order a picnic lunch. The homemade lemonade is good--not too sweet. Prices are average ($9 for a sandwich and drink). Staff appears to be made of young hippie kids who play in bands at night (many nose piercings). more
