This store is amazing, Shelly, the owner is so helpful and knowledgeable! I found tons of great maternity clothes (Gap, Pea in the Pod, Mimi Maternity) while I was pregnant. I also have found so many cute, designer baby clothes (Kissy, Kissy, GapBaby, Polo, Janie and Jack). I don't think I've paid full retail for anything for my baby yet - I always find such great stuff here! I even got my baby swing at the shop for 1/3 of what it would have been new! Go here, you won?t be disappointed! more

Experince the best in Houston 12/8/2010

This is my first stop when it comes to buying my 2 year old seasonal clothing!!! Tons of name brands including Mini Boden, Kissy Kissy, Strasburg, Ralph Lauren, Gymboree, and so many more!! She has so many failthful customers, including myself, which in my opionion, speaks for itself. I have friends who have moved to Katy and other surrounding Houston areas that CONTINUE to make the drive and conisgn their things with Shelly! Always a pleasant experience. more

Best Place in Houston for Consignment Items 12/1/2010

I have been bringing my kid's outgrown clothing to Second Childhood for 10 years. The staff is always friendly and professional! It makes you feel great to help others by selling quality clothing at a discount and to also receive money for your effort. I would highly recommend this place to any mom wanting to clean out the kid's closets or purchase fabulous things at a discount. more

One of my faves 11/15/2010

I first discovered Second Childhood in West U and have followed them faithfully for about 10 years now. I can always depend on finding quality clothing at fair prices. I also take clothing about 3 times a year and am please with how much gets sold. I pick up my unsold items and pass them along to friends but Shelly will donate them for you if you prefer not to deal with them again! I shop resale for myself as well as the kids and I love this store. more

I do not get the 24 star reviews. She is a thief. I brought her over 30 new with tags maternity items. She gave me $16.00 cash. That is it! You are better off selling on ebay. The things i brought her were Pickles and Ice Cream $250.00 tops with tags. and that is what I got. Take it from me. Go to buyt but DO NOT consign. And she will act like she never met you. SHe ran to my car to get my clothes and then gave me nothing. Run! more

Best Children's Resale in Houston 5/3/2010

I try to visit Second Childhood at least monthly! This place is great for moms like myself who like to dress their children well but don't want to spend a fortune while doing so! Second Childhood always has great brands in both children's clothes/shoes (such as Kissy Kissy, Cach Cach, Janie and Jack, Tea, Ralph Lauren, Juicy Couture, Room Seven, etc) and maternity clothes. The owner is usually there, she is always very welcoming and she is very knowledgeable and helpful if you were to have a question about size or brand or anything else. The store has both new and gently used consignment items, with savings of 50 to 90%. My daughter is one of the best dressed kids around without breaking the bank, thanks to Second Childhood! WHAT HAPPENED? 11/17/2008

Once upon a time, I went into this store on Fountain View every week to buy something. They had the best store in Houston - best selection and good prices. I had high hopes for the store in West U. But, when I visited, the store smelled AWEFUL, the play area was disgustingly dirty, and the clothes were poorly organized and very poor quality! I don't know what is going on, but the quaility of the clothes on the Fountain View stoor has been really disappointing the last 2 trips and the store is starting to smell like the West U store. Did they change management? Terribly disappointing!! Cons: smell, smell, smell more

A Second Childhood fan speaks up! 7/31/2008

I disagree vehemently with the previous negative reviews. I liked Yolanda as well but the owner has now taken over Second Childhood's location and is very cheerful and helpful. Also the selection is much larger now that all the new and resale clothes previously at the Holcombe location are available at Fountainview for our shopping pleasure. The prices also seem lower than when Yolanda was manager. If everyone doesn't come and check it out if will be their loss and that much more for me and all the other Second Childhood fans. more

We want Yolanda back!!! 4/3/2008

I havebeen a loyal customer since I was pregnant with my first child 10 years ago. Yolanda was always at the shop with a smile on her face and ready to help me find the perfect outfit or checking my account balance. She become a very dear friend over the years to all three of my children. How dissapointed I was today when upon enetering the shop only to find out she had been let go due to ""downsizing"". The shop had been rearranged and the new layout just does not have the same flow. Even the quality of the clothes seemed less than stellar. Stains on a Tommy Hilfiger polo ...Gone were the racks of wonderful boutique items.... The owner seemed very uninterested in the customers or our children, only taking the time to comment to me that ""at least my girls were playing quietly in the play area""... Sadly, I will not return...unless Yolanda comes back. Cons: Poor customer service more

GREAT FIND!!! 10/26/2007

This place is more than meets the eye. They are so friendly and helpful. Even the play area is 'kid tested, mom approved'. I had such an easy time shopping, their merchandise was easily accesable, and prices were great! My son, 2years of shopping terror, really loved the play area, which made shopping a breeze! I found so many really great brand childrens clothes that my biggest problem was deciding where to draw the line! Give them a try, you will LOVE IT!!! Great shop 10/14/2007

I was so pleased to find this shop thru city search. The reviews were excellent. I found so many lovely maternity clothes. The personal advise i received from the staff was great because as a new mom I new when i left the shop what I needed for my new baby and what I didn't. I new what to I registered for my showers list. i visited many specialty shops and had to come to a resale shop for gold service. I know now why this lady is so sucessful as everyone who came in while I was there received the same welcoming and helful advice. Every one in retail should visit this shop on Fountain View and take lessons from her as to what personal, friendly service is Pros: Thumbs up!!!! pleasant resale environment 9/13/2007

I love to dress ""up"" my littles ones. I also love to be a smart shopper! I respect my sweet husband and his money. I also respect the trust he gives me with the bank card! I always find the perfect little item for my son or my daughter at Second Childhood. The lovely lady behind the counter always has a calm, pleasant, and welcoming presense about her. Best clothing new and resale selection 5/12/2007

I was at a meeting and my associate told me of this shop!! I left my pay check and can't wait to return. My Stehanie Anne crib, peg Prego highchair, and my maternity clothes were in prestine conditiion. I was amazed that this store took pride in their selection of clothes, baby furniture, and nursery equipment. I went to a few resale shop, but walked out as I could tell I didn't want to look around. This shop left me with the feeling she was very knowlegeable about her industry, and very commited to only having the best. I hope she is around til my children grow up as I know i will always return. I called Susan my friend and told her how much i apreciated the reference!!! Best Children's Resale in Houston 2/11/2007

I drove into Houston from Santa Fe Texas because all my grandmother friends had bought lovely childrens clothes for their grand children and now I am a first time grandmother of twin boy and girl. Every thing I heard about this shop was as my friends had said. Friendly, organized and beautiful clothes. My Daughter lives in Spring, Texas and I can't wait for her to see the shop. I e-mailed her and gave her directions so we could meet!!! I shop on the internet a lot with a lot of disappointments, but this shop will keep my grand children in clothes and I know I will never be disappointed!! You have got to go in and Meet Yolanda as she know about the best strollers, infant carriers, best mobile's and why. She gave me a wealth of information about preparing a nursery in my home, and her e-mail address in case I had questions. How about that for customer service!!! Friendly People 2/10/2007

This store has a decent variety of clothing for infants, children, and maternity. They also carry accessories such as toys, crib bedding, baby carriers, etc. The store clerks were friendly old ladies who were really nice. Their prices were still high for used items. more

Good for bargain hunters. 6/28/2006

They carry children's items and maternity at reasonable prices. You can really find some good deals on gently used items. They even sell childrens games, books, cribs, toys too. This is a great place to recycle things that children outgrow sometimes even before they are ever worn or used. more

I received a gift certificate from this shop. I WAS AMAZED!!! Great clothes, and BOWS for the selection I saved since my clothing was discounted almost 1/2 OFF what I spent before finding this shop. Sandra and Yolanda were so helpful with my girls as they are 1 year old and the shop had a great play area, and I shopped worry free and the girls were happy in play area. I can not wait till I bring my mom and mom-in-law as the shop has great smocked clothing.!!!! Thank you Karen for leading me to this great find!!!
