Fun, FUN! 4/14/2006

Ok, confession - we never actually *buy* anything here, but it's such fun just to wander around and look at everything they have. They specialize in pre-1940s fixtures and architechtural features (fireplace surrounds, doors, etc) They have everything here from the big stuff to little accessories like doorknobs and drawer handles. What a fun place to come and just wander. more

Lots of antique hardware 12/1/2005

This place is a great place to go for any tidbit of hardware you can't find to restore your old home. Lights, knobs, hooks, doors, mailboxes, sinks, tubs, vent covers, plumbing fixtures, wrought iron stuff, doors, wood, a piano occassionally, etc! They have lots of stuff , some they restore themselves, some as is. There's 2 stores, one in downtown Everett and one in the city I believe. Some of the stuff is pricey but it is old and hard to find. They also have reproductions and can order reproductions thru a catalog for you (cheaper!). They know about what style will fit the time period of your house or architecture. They do have that other big warehouse (Everett store) that stores even more stuff that they haven't priced but it's hard to see in there b/c it's dark/not very well lit. Go ready w/ all measurements and ideas of what you're looking for. They can help you restore or fix something you already own too. more

Worth a visit 11/14/2005

This is a pretty typical salvage store. The usual assortment of home and garden pieces, in various condition, can be found here. With a large warehouse (poorly staffed) down the alley out back, they actually have quite a bit of inventory. Much of it is not priced, so one must ask the owner when he's asking for many of the items. This opens the door for some bargaining, to which the owner seems somewhat amenable. This is not a junkyard, you're unlikely to find a screaming deal because the savvy owner is very in touch with the market and prices to sell to the middle-upper end clientele. Prices range from reasonable to crazily expensive, though things on the upper end of the scale seem to be either difficult to find or well-restored. Things that are well-restored are lovely, and I believe they specialize in lighting. more

Hard to Find Parts for Older Buildings 10/8/2005

This is where I find all my hard to find replacement fixtures, knobs, windows, doors and woodwork and such for my home built in 1900. They salvage a variety of buildings, from residential to commercial to religious from many different eras. As a result, you can find stuff from the not quite so distant past as well as unusual elements that can be added to your home or business. Sadly for those of us in Seattle, they are currently moving from their South Lake Union spot to Everett where they will reside at 2114 Hewitt. I don't know where that is, but you can either call for directions or check their website to see if they have directions posted. The store hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. more
