False Advertising 7/5/2009

7/3/09 weekend. At the entrance of Sea World with big banner: Lobster $7.89/lb. I came in and ordered 5 lb lobster to go and was told the $7.89/lb is for eating in only! To go is $9.89/lb. This is an outragous bait and switch scam and false advertising. No where in the banner is said the price is for eat-in only. They had no answer for me when I asked them. I will take my business elsewhere. more

BEWARE of CHEATING & FRAUDULENT 5/28/2008

DON'T EVER have your party or wedding at this restaurant. The food is AWFUL. The service is TERRIBLE. And the worst thing is the owner has two faces who is a LIAR and a CHEATER. We had a wedding a few months ago and some of our guests got mad and left because they refused to serve the table. When we asked them why, they told us because the table were not full even though we reserved these tables and we asked them to go ahead and serve. They acted like who cares. The worst part is they CHEAT. We reserved 34 tables ($500/table). With gratitude, tax and everything, we gave them around $20,000 in cash at once. Since we used only 31 tables, they told us we can not get back the refund for the other 3 tables that we reserved but we can only come back to eat the same menu with no expiration. A few days after the wedding, we came and used 1 of the 3 tables and the owner gave us a new receipt with a writing "Credit for 2 tables." A month later, we came for the second time. The female owner asked us to give her the receipt before she would prepare the food. After waiting for half an hour, she came back and told us that we had no more credit and we would need to pay cash today. We were surprised and asked her why? She showed us her carbon copy receipt and said that her carbon copy receipt showed that we had no more credit. We could not believe it so we asked her to give us the original receipt back to compare. She refused to give us back our original receipt (main copy) and said she already torn it off and threw it away. We were very upset and embarrassed to our guests who we invited that day to the dinner. We did not know how to deal with the situation. We could not believe someone would tear apart our paper and refuse to give back to us. We kept asking her to prove it to us and give us back the original receipt but she said no. She could not explain her carbon copy receipt but refused to give us our original receipt. As we were argueing, my sister was smart enough to repossess our original receipt which she torn in three pieces and hid under the counter where she was standing. At this moment, we compared the two receipts and learned that she cheated on us. The original receipt (which we gave to her as we came in and she torn apart) did not have the additional writings. It clearly showed her hand writings and signature that we had credits for 2 tables. As to her carbon copy, she has taken a pen and wrote additional notes on it that we had no more credit. We could not believe how could someone do that. We turned to her and she had no word to explain. At that time she asked us to sit down to negotiate to cover up her fraudulent. However, we had enough of her after all the frustration and anger she caused us. We told her she has commited fraud. We told her we would report her to the consumer affairs to stop her business from cheating other people. We told her her greediness has destroyed her business and reputation in the worst way. After that, we took our proof and left the restaurant. I hope you understand how bad I and my family feel about the whole situation. The reason I write this review is to stop SEAFOOD WORLD RESTAURANT (15351 Brookhurst #101. Westminster, CA) from cheating and hurting other innocent people. Every word I write here is true. I would be more than happy to show you the proof I have. This kind of fraud has to be stopped. We can not accept any business to take advantages of the customers in such a dishonest way. Thank you for reading. Hopefully this information will be helpful to you and help you to make the right decision when you consider this restaurant for your choice of restaurant. Dim sum couldn't be more perfect 5/10/2006

With all the hustle and bustle at Seafood World, you might expect to be ignored or be limited in your dim sum options, but this place is run like a military operation. The last time I went, my family and I must have gotten there a little earlier than normal, 10:30am, because the place wasn't so full that there were twenty people holding numbers outside like there were the time before. They use a perfectly audible, non-crackly PA system to call your number, which I think is pretty slick. We were seated promptly. The waiter dropped off two plates of hot sauce and mustard at our table before we were even fully settled. Water and tea were delivered to our table almost immediately. I sighed to myself, "This never happens when we go to dim sum in Seattle!" The first cart stopped at our table soon after, bearing many delectable options. We pulled five different dishes from that cart alone. All the dishes are the best versions I've ever had. I especially like their fried "football"-shaped dumplings and their egg custard. The steamed shrimp balls are delicately cooked and not so gummy that they can't be separated from the dish or one another. The gai lan (Chinese broccoli), which we go delivered with a minimum of arm-waving to the waiter, was perfectly cooked and served with sauce on the side. I saw many dishes both familiar and completely foreign. The diversity of dishes at this dim sum restaurant completely blows any other out of the water. Seafood World's service is also unparalleled in the world of dim sum. Our water was refilled at least three times during the meal. It was easy to flag down a waiter to reconcile the bill. A variety of carts came by frequently, although they could have come by even more often. When the table next to us was vacated, a busser was over there in seconds, removed the white cloth tablecloth, replaced it with a fresh one, and had a new group seated before we finished paying our bill. Also, their prices can't be beat: $23.70 for four. Though, it should be noted that my dad is not a big eater! more

Great dim sum experience 12/18/2005

With the large number of restaurants--especially Asian-themed ones--crowding Orange County, I did not expect to find some of the best dim sum I've ever eaten at a restaurant called Seafood World. (Who would have thought something called "Seafood World" would specialize in dim sum?) After driving by it for years without stepping foot in the door, I finally ate there when my parents suggested it for a Sunday brunch. Seafood World offers a large selection of high quality, fresh dishes during their dim sum hours. I saw a few repeated items on the carts that passed by, but most of the items that were offered were unique. And not only was there a large selection (one that I was happy to find devoid of chicken feet), the food was extremely fresh. (For example, the egg custard I find questionable at many places became heavenly when I bit in to find a warm, flaky crust and freshly set filling.) Just about everything I tasted I could say was the best version of that dish I'd had yet. Beyond the food, the restaurant is clean and bright with attractive wall decor. Although the service suffers from the affliction plaguing most dim sum restaurants (high focus on the carts, minimal to no focus on everything else including whether there is water on the table), the staff will actually bring you any special requests you have (hot mustard, chinese broccoli, etc.) rather than just absentmindedly nodding and then disappearing. The waitresses also don't harass or oversell the goods on their cart. Instead, they somehow manage to pace their movement enough to give you time to eat and digest without being constantly interrupted. I left feeling stuffed--for the first time leaving a dim sum restaurant, not over-stuffed--with delicious goodness. A must, especially after seeing that the bill for four people came to $30. more

NICE PLACE 8/20/2005

Nice restaurant to eat. I went here for a celebration. They have a great selection of sea food. I love their foods; plenty to pick from. The view is great, because it is a on a boat. It is a very romantic place for a special occasion. You can get the price cheaper if you buy their gift certificate. more

Great authentic Chinese food 8/4/2005

If you want good authentic Chinese food, then Seafood World is the place to go. The restaurant is humongous, however there will be lines during the dinner hours of the weekend. The service is also extremely fast. My personal favorite is the Kung Pao Chicken and lobster. more

Love their Breakfast 6/25/2005

I love to eat breakfast here. They offer all sort of Chinese food in the morning. It is very much crowed here every morning. Even though, they have a huge parking lot of park. So parking is not problem, but good luck finding a table. The waiters are walking around with cart and you can tell them what you want. It fast service and good food, what more can you ask for. more
