Seadog Speed Boat Rides

Bad: Took my three sons on this and was soaked by the extreme sea dog boat. I mean drenched. My children were having a great time when they were hit by a huge wave with force from the other boat. My other family members and I were soaked as well. The girl that was MC'ing the boat ride saw the whole thing and aftewards asked us if we had a good time.. UHHHH What do you think the kids were crying most of the boat ride?? We should have gotten our money back and a HUGE APOLOGY!!. Improvements: tell the truth that you might get wet or soaked on this ride because we were told we would not get wet. DRIVERS use some common sense when driving and you think you are being funny and decide to drench another boat.. HELLO THERE WERE THREE KIDS IN THAT ROW!!!. Other: They crew needed to be more friendly and use common sense. There were other people on this ride that were extremly upset getting so wet and now my children don't even want to go near a boat or for another ride. Thanks for wasting our time and money.. more

Bad: Seadog does not operate ride if they do not have enough people lined up for ride. So even if the boat is ready and weather is good, if they do not have enough customers, the ride does not go. No signs are posted of this policy. So do not buy your ticket in advance. Also if the ride is canceled for visibility issue do not take the VIP pass that they offer, especially if you are not from Chicago. If the ride is cancelled and you can not stay for a later time in the day, you get no refund.. Improvements: The payment receipt should not be taken from customers, even when VIP pass is issued because customer has no receipt of payment. If ride is cancelled because of low ridership, a full refund should be provided to customer.. Other: I was at the Navy Pier on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 7:15pm. The ride cost me over $80 for 2 adults and 1 child. I was refused a refund because they canceled due visibility and then second time to low ridership and I could not stay for later ride because my family had to fly back home. more

I love to take the Seadog Speed Boat Ride every summer. We always try to choose one of those days that are really hot and humid, because this ride offeres a great 30-minute escape from the heat! This boat ride gives not only a great and speedy ride along Lake Michigan, but you get some great views of Chicago's beautiful skyline and a some great little tid bits about Chicago. The ride is pretty expensive, but it sure is fun and worth a try at least once! more

I went out on the Sea Dog this past weekend in the 95 degree heat. You know, its the best thing to do to relieve yourself from the heat, outside of air conditioning. I know its a touristy thing to do and yes, I was showing friends from out of town Navy Pier, but it wasn't bad. Got out past the break wall and it cooled off tremendously. Tour was nice, interns/summer help did a nice job. Only for the price ($22), and the length of the ride, 30 min, thought it was a little steep. But, if you have out of towners here, not a bad thing to do and show them the city from a lake view. more

When the summer rolls around, I always want to go boating. This little company really fulfills my wishes. They have these awesome boat tours that take you on a fast and fun-filled boat ride. The sea dog has a really friendly staff that will make the thirty minute trip entertianing and interesting. They will give you little tidbits of info on the city of Chicago, beautiful views of the skyline, and a really fast and refreshing tour of the lake. Be careful though, you might get wet!! more

This was a lot of fun. I made some really good friends that last time that I was on this. It is a great time getting shot across the lake in a whirl of splashing water and great views. It is nice to get a good view of Chicago from the lake front. Try this out. more

This is a cool way to get some more information on the city, but it is also an easy way to show how cold the water from Lake Michigan can be. I got soaked on this tour. I got to have some fun and get a quick tutorial on architecture. Fun for all. more

Great rides! The ones along the shore are fast and splashy, and you get a great skyline view; the ones into the Chicago River take more time, but you get to see some fabulous architecture that Chicago is famous for - take your pick. It takes time to get though the docks, be prepared for that. At the end of the tour, you might even end up by the 'across the river' fountain - literally a rainbow of water. Willing passengers can get splashed, the unwilling ones get to wait till it's over - the fountain only works 5 minutes of an hour. Overall, good fun! more

We took the combined tour of the river and the lakefront. You get a little splashed on the speed boat ride, and the view is what you'd expect the view of Chicago from lakefront to be. Getting into the river takes a few minutes, since there are locks to get into (I never knew!) The tour itself is quite informative, and the staff are very friendly, and can even steer the boat toward something if you are expecially interested in a close-up picture, which they will also gladly take. On a hot summer day they also gave out water to everyone on the boat! I learnt quite a bit on the tour, and for new visitors it is a great way see the city! more
