Great deal on diving equipment 5/12/2012

I recently got my diving gear from Scuba West. I had a good idea of what gear I wanted and searched the internet to see what it would cost. I almost bought it online, but a friend of mine took his class there and said I should check them out first. Not only did I get the same deal as I would have at an online shop, but these guys took the time show me somethings about the bcd and regulator and even checked the fit before I left. The staff was friendly and took the time to make sure I was satisfied. I dove the gear three times already and it is fantastic. more

A Great Place for Divers 4/28/2012

I recently bought my dive equipment here and also signed up for my advanced course. The people here took their time with me, discussed several options for my dive gear and didn't try to sell me the most expensive stuff. Not only was the price of my gear lower than anywhere else I looked (even online stores) They offered to let me exchange anything that I wasn't happy with even if I used it! I talked to three other shops before deciding and no one came close to the price or the service. I met my instructor for my upcoming course and he was friendly and knowledgeable. I let you know how it goes! more

Not a great business 5/24/2011

Scuba West is an overpriced dive shop. They advertise many classes, but the open water dives take place in the sinkhole across the street. It's not spring fed so it's dark tannin filled water with a hydrogen sulfide layer, so it smells too. The owner, Jeff, is sociable, but disorganized and seems to have a lot of turnover in employees. They pack classes full if they can find the business and have trouble scheduling classes. If you want to take a class go somewhere else. Taking new divers into the sinkhole is the easiest way to make them hate diving. There are so many nicer places close by. Blue Grotto, Devils Den, The Gulf. If you are looking for a more advanced dive, Paradise Springs, Hospital Hole, Buford. These will all be much cheaper as well as much more enjoyable - no matter what type of diving you like. more
