They charge to much. It seems like they are set up to take rich people who are recently certified on dives. If you are rich I am sure you will like it, but if your an average Jo...

Several of us from my dive club, the Bay Area Divers, took a road trip from the Houston, Texas area to experience diving in Florida. One of the highlights of our trip was diving on the USS Oriskany. We booked our dive with the Scuba Shack and their boat ""The Wet Dream.""\r \r The booking process was easy. Even though we booked this trip as a group, each member was still required to call the dive shop and guarantee their individual spot with a credit card. The staff was friendly and helpful and answered all of my questions. more

I've dove with them several times in 2013. Staff is professional, SAFE!, knowledgeable, and friendly. GREAT instructor, dive master, boat crew and awesome diving. I'm even getting my tech diver certification there! Now, about that chicken........ EM more

During our surface interval between dives, we were given freshly sliced oranges and pineapples. Lunch was grilled hot dogs. After our second, and final, dive, we were offered hand cranked strawberry ice cream and freshly sliced watermelon during the trip back to the dock. more

This dive op also offers 100 cf tanks as well as Nitrox (for those who are certified for its use). For diving the Oriskany, the Scuba Shack recommended Nitrox 30.\r \r The transit time to and from the Oriskany is two hours each way, so one must plan for an entire day dedicated for this.\r \r Pre-departure and pre-dive briefings were very thorough and professional. The staff ensured all were well hydrated at all times and showed concern for our well being. more

Coast Guard inspected, well run and tidy, Gene is an experienced Emerald Coast Charter Captain. A dive trip on his spacious, comfortable boat is a happy experience even for the more sea sick lubbers among us. The rides out to the best sites off Pensacola, Florida tend to be long. ""Wet Dream"" isn't the fastest boat around, but it's one of the easiest to dive off and since Capt. Gene tends to be conservative, you and your stomach won't be fighting 10 ft. seas. Some of his blue water dives rival anything you can find in the Caribbean. Pensacola and the Florida Panhandle tend to have rough and irregular diving in the winter. So save your pennies and quiet money and get there after Spring Break. Wet Dream isn't one of the cheapest rides on the coast, but you can be assured you'll have a good time and be safe. When you're done diving, or if you need to pick up something you forgot, be sure and check out the thoroughly stocked dive shop. First Class instruction is also available. A Great bet for locals and vacationers alike. more

I had heard alot about the ""The Mighty O"", but I was very nervous to make such a dive. After the first dive, Dive Master Gary made me feel at ease. I was able to relax and enjoy the 120 ft dive. The Dive Master made sure we received the full experience of the dive by pointing out marine life. i.e. octopus, baracuda, butterfly fish, and sea urchints.Once the dive trip was completed, we got back on board the boat to grilled hot dogs and homemade ice cream. He and his staff made the dive worth all the time and expense to being a SSI certified diver. more

This place has all kinds of baits, shrimps etc, for fishing. If youre going fishing and need some cheap bait that will ACTUALLY work, then go here. They have very cheap live bait and of course already dead bait. They also sell scuba gear along with fishing rods. Good place! more

not getting my business again. 8/14/2009

I recently visited the scuba shack and was charged more than quoted on the phone forseveral services. Also they leave information out seemingly intentionaly untill you are at the register paying. I have never been nickle and dimed so much in my life. The Personel are very nice but very shady when it comes to business practice especialy when they add hidden charges for things like SSI advanced diver cards and changing the battery in a computer. what normaly cost 10-15 dollars cost me 50 dollars after the fact even though i was quoted a different price, great shop if you don't mind parting with your money. Pros: location Cons: everything else. more
