Scooterworks -USA, Chicago - Scooting right! 11/27/2010

After several years of dealing with Scooterworks over the internet - I finally was able to visit. The universe came together and a trip to Chicago from Detroit - came to be. I was long over due to visit a friend - who I find out lives a few blocks from Scooterworks and then there was the Wacky and Weird Ride they organized, and explanation of the Scooterworks Dealership and the Mail Order Scooterworks. In these times it is was good to see a small niche company growing!.... They must be doing something right.. I was given a tour, and chatted with the staff. I was treated well, a combination of vip customer and favorite family member.. They are taking an interest in their customers - focusing on the relationship building. I had a list of questions and they answered all of them. I bought a few things - after himming and hawwing about having to take things on the train - they worked some deals for my ""hassles"". I won't spoil Scootersworks Mail Order signature suprise if you haven't ordered from them before - but don't be afraid too... I'm planning on another trip back - with my 1980 p125x to have them go over it from front to back.. I don't think they realized that I was interviewing them... LOL... So have fun at Scooterworks - these folks are great... dealers, friends, customers - the lines are blurred in a very good way... P.S. Whatever happened back in 2007 - is history - new organization, staff, attitude. Growing, Learning, Getting Better... more

THE Scooter Place in Chicago! I love these guys! 11/26/2010

Let me start by saying THANK YOU! I love this shop. Not only did they work on an old Honda I had a few years ago, they sold me my new Buddy, that I LOVE! The staff is so knowledgeable and they will do whatever it takes to make things right. I had consistent problems with a mirror that they were happy to replace free of charge. I love the fact that I can stop by anytime with questions or if I need help. They were happy to help me pick out the right pair of goggles, keeping in my mind they reco’d the cheaper ones vs. trying to “sell” me the expensive ones b/c I don’t ride all the time. I appreciate their helpful attitude and am hoping to make one of their organized rides next year. I’ve heard great things about these rides and that they are a lot of fun. Keep it up guys…I’m sure I’ll be stopping by soon to ask a question or 3. Thank you again!!! more

Honk! Honk! Hooray for Scooterworks! 11/16/2010

Let me start by saying that being a scooter owner has improved life in Chicago 100 times over! I love this city, don't get me wrong, but my chief complaints have always been (1) horrible traffic, (2) no parking, (3) expensive cabbies whose driving skills and hygeine are enough to make you nauseous. My little Buddy 50 from Scooterworks has been the magic pill to a all that ailed me about city life! And, having a quick, easy, FUN mode of transportation that puts the wind in my hair to the tune of 90 miles per gallon has made me get out and see more of the city! I went from a Lakeview hermit to a conquistador of Cook County, and love exploring new neighborhoods, and half of the fun is getting there!\r \r But, this review isn't about how much I love having a scooter, it's about how awesome the folks that provided me with one are! Scooterworks is a great little scooter shop! They are friendly, helpful, smart, and welcome you into the scooter-owner family with a smile! In the two years I've had my Buddy, I've piled on 1700 miles, and the folks at Scooterworks were only too happy to help me when a rude motorist knocked my parked scooter over, necessitating a new mirror. While I was there, they tightened the bolts on the hard case, gave me a freebie sparkplug (since the mirrors came in sets of two and I only needed one, they gave me a discount and threw in the sparkplug gratis).\r \r I've made several visits to Scooterworks in the last two years, and each time, the service was fast, friendly, and performed with a smile.\r \r And? When I posted some pictures of how much I heart my Buddy on their Facebook page, they mailed me a goodie bag with lots of fun Scooterworks schwag!\r \r I constantly have people asking me about my scooter, and I always point them to Scooterworks. more

My Favorite Local Scootershop 11/15/2010

I love this place, too bad my Buddy is so well made I only have to visit to get oil and the occasional maintenance. The guys in the repair shop listen when I describe my concerns, have adjusted my breaks for free and when I went in for tire repair showed me how bad mine were and gave me a discount on the repair job. I've never had a problem and they are very generous with filling my scoot with oil. Being a girl riding a scooter I feel totally comfortable going in this shop unlike other motorcycle shops in the city which just ignore me. I only wish they had more girl sized accessories. more

lifesavers!!!! 10/28/2010

I dropped my bike off in April for an engine redo. I was given a comprehensive estimate and I had them start the work. While they were in there, they found that my clutch was basically destroyed. At the time, there was one guy in the known Scooter-world who made clutches for my type of bike. They sought him out and learned that he had retired. That means no clutch. No clutch means no bike. The guys at Scooterworks searched high and low, they exploited every source they had. It took 4 months of them calling all over the world and they found me a clutch. When I picked up the bike and paid the bill, they came in under the estimate amount. They really went above and beyond and they have a customer for life in me. more

Totally different place now! 9/2/2010

This is now Scooterworks Chicago and is a completely renovated HUGE Scooter showroom. Gone is the dark factory feel and snobby scooter attitude, welcome to Scooterworks 2010! Not only do they carry great Scooters they are willing to go the extra mile to please the customer. If you've never been before and are looking for a Scooter this is the place to come. If you've been before go back again and see the difference! more

Grease Monkeys 9/28/2007

It may be a small shop, but I expect more attention to detail and cleanliness with my Vespa I have invested so much money in. \r I had my engine replaced. I came to pick it up when they said it was ready. But when I arrived there were many things not finished that I requested. While my scooter was stored in the shop it was jammed in the back next to a bunch of other scooters. It came back with a few extra scratches and grease. The clutch lever I asked to be replaced wasn't replaced. The front fender wasn't repaired as per my request. I had to tighten it myself. The horn that originally worked did not work and wasn't repaired when I pointed this out. A week later the battery went totally dead. Meaning the engine was not properly installed.\r I am very unhappy with their service and poor attention to detail. Pros: has parts for old Vespas Cons: poor service and attention to detail more
