great spot for dinner with friends 5/10/2009

Scollay Square is a great place for after work drinks or dinner with friends. Paying homage to Boston's late entertainment district, the decore and atmosphere make for a relaxed yet eclectic atmosphere to enjoy a tasy meal. more

best lunch spot in Boston. by mcpats 2/9/2009

I love this place. Been there several times for lunch and have always had a great experience. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is excellent. My daughter loves the mac and cheese and crab cakes. I love the steak tips sandwich. Their fries are fabulous. Check it out you won't be disapointed. I can't wait to try Scolla's for dinner. more

Our Favorite Restaurant 1/28/2009

I have been to Scollay Square about 5 times since it opened. The sirloin and ""drunken lobster"" meals were delicious and cooked perfectly. My 80 year old mother plans a day trip to Boston with her grandchildren about twice a year, and always takes them to Scollay square for lunch. Pros: Friendly atmosphere/enjoyable dining more

New Chef, New menu, New taste 1/25/2009

Tried this place a few times a couple of years ago and finally got back and what a surprise. They have a new chef and just introduced a new menu. They also had a 3 course meal for $22 which was really cool and cheap. I did not go for the pre fixe but tried some of the new menu food and it was great. We sat at the bar that is around the kitchen and chatted with the new chef, I think his name was Jason, He was interesting to talk to and man can he cook. Look forward to trying more of the menu Pros: New menu Cons: Knee room at bar more

Great Food, Smooth Service 1/22/2009

The food is always good at Scollay Sq. Their new Prix Fixe menu is a great bargain! The service was smooth and let us have dinner at our own pace. The chix satay was moist with two great dipping sauces. My steak was cooked perfectly and the lobster mac & cheese was super rich. Wine pours are on the light side, but lots of options to chose from. The vibe is calm and warm. I love sitting at the bar and just have a quick bite (the tuna napolean is awesome). I highly recommend this place, and in the summer the outside patio ROCKS! Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, summer patio Cons: Smelly bathroom downstairs more

great casual bistro 3/3/2008

My boyfriend and I wandered in to SCollay Square early one evening for a quick bite and a cocktail -- service was great, the food was very tasty, and the cocktails were excellent. I have just made reservations to take my folks there for dinner -- I think they'll like the vintage retro thing, and they'll definitely love the menu. Pros: food, location, service Cons: no parking anywhere nearby -- ok if you're exploring downtown more

SCOLLAY BIRTHDAY 1/6/2007

I was looking for a place to celebrate my husbands birthday and needed a table to accomodate 12 people. The owner made us feel very comfortable and welcome, they even printed our menu's with Happy Birthday and my husbands name on the top, a very nice personal touch. We started with the fabulous Kobe beef sliders and a few very fresh wedge salads. All of our entrees arrived together and were delicious. Everyone at the table was so impressed and had such a great time. The wine selection is great, and all of the ladies had a mouth watering Pomegranate martini. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. Overall it was a wonderful birthday experience that we highly reccommend and we will definitely frequent Scollay Square more often. more

Top Notch 3/14/2006

We live around the corner, and this is one of the best dining experiences you can have in all of Boston. Scollay has become ""our"" place to bring friends and family from out of town. All of them have been nothing but impressed. Every visit is wonderful, with visits and wine suggestions from the owner, to fantastic wait staff, to mouth watering food. Oven fired oysters and seared scallops are among our favorites, and the lobster mac n cheese is a must. Try this place and you will be back. Pros: great food, great value, great atmosphere more

Wonderful time 9/1/2005

Everything that we ordered was well-prepared and delicious. The scallops and crab risotto cake were excellent. Our wait-person was very attentive and even came back to the table to ask me if a certain ingredient in my meal was acceptable, so she was very mindful of dietary restrictions. An overall great experience, and we plan on returning. Pros: Great food, great service more

DON'T GO THERE 8/28/2005

We had a great ding experience. Excelent Scallops, Tuna entres. The server was mindful of the time - we were going to the theatre-, but we were never rushed. The owner was there, he was enthusiastic and made suggestions from the wine list. An excellent value. more

Great Dining Experience! 2/6/2005

I went to Scollay Square after hearing numerous great reviews from my neighbors in Beacon Hill. I was amazed at the ambience, excellent food (I had the Goat Cheese Crusted Lamb Rack) and the exceptional service. Our server Matt, a young college student, could answer every question we had about the menu, and made our meal even more enjoyable with his open and funny personality, while maintaing a professionalism. The owner even stopped by the table to ask us how our meal was! My fiancee and I felt like royalty! Highly recommended place for great food and service all around! more

An absolute must try 1/3/2005

This New Years Eve, my boyfriend and I sat at the bar overlooking the open kitchen and were treated to one of the most sublime dining experiences. Head chef Chris Damian was in full swing in front of the stove turning out some very enticing dishes and spent the whole evening answering out questions and chatting in between oorders. We had the ahi tuna for a starter, very fresh and very spicy. For dinner, it was the sirloin which was grilled to perfection and the New Orleans BBQ shrimp on toasts which was very tasty. We tried the bread pudding for dessert but it was a tad on the eggy side so without even asking, the chef sent over the molten chocolate cake which was excellent. The wine list was great & cocktails were inventive, be sure to try the Cognac stinger, yum. We cant wait to go back again. Pros: Head chef Damian, Great atmosphere/food, Superb staff more

Yummy & Convenient 8/30/2004

Went to Scollay Square for the first time, post restaurant week. The restaurant has a wide array of choices and every single item was great. The mussels were melt-in-your-mouth good, as were the scallops. We tried blueberry pie for dessert and were astounded by the bursting flavor. The cocktails are worth checking out also. Pros: great service, wonderful ambiance, tasty eats more

Well Worth Visiting 3/3/2004

For a new retaurant, they have really done their homework. I was there twice the first week it opened. First by the grill for drinks and apps. I had to return for dinner! One of the best steaks I've ever had, a great wine selection too! My friend had the scallops, which were spectacular as well as the appetizers. Atmosphere is nostalgic of the old Scollay Square. Very interesting photographs.Staff very professional, attentive and friendly, as well as the chef's and manager who personally made the rounds to see everything was in order. Don't miss this one! Pros: service, atmopsphere, food more
