Worst Doctor I have had 1/22/2010

To be brutally honest, this is the worst Dr. I have ever seen or heard of in my life. It disgusts me that a Doctor would thinks its okay to treat patients the way he does. I have been dealing with back problems since I was 9, I am now 22 years old. I was referred to Dr. Schooley from my pain management clinic. This man did surgery on my and I have not even him for more than 5 minutes. This is not a joke and I am not exaggerating. During the consultation he did not look at my MRI or my X-rays, he sound it sounded like a disc problem and asked if I wanted surgery, being STUPID I said yes, because I wanted the pain to go away, he then walked out of the room. So literally he said ""Well it sounds like a pretty bad disc, is surgery something you're willing to do?"" and then left. I did not see him before or after the surgery when i was at the hospital, and the 2nd part of the surgery (which was a month later) was supposed to be outpatient-again I didn't see him before or after- when i woke up from it, I was in such bad pain that I was balling my eyes out and I told them something had to be wrong. Dr. Schooley would not come to see me, instead his PA (Jennifer) CALLED my room and said I needed to get over it, that I was supposed to be hurting because I just had back surgery! Again NOT an exaggeration! I has been almost a year since the surgery, and he has never called for a follow up or to see how I was doing. And now I am worse than ever, and almost to the point where I can't do any activities or even play with my son. This man was supposed to help me, and instead made me worse, and he could care less about it! He makes me sick, please do not see this doctor!!!!! Cons: everything more

being very honest 11/10/2009

i was referred to this dr. for the excruciating pain in my back. i had already had a MRI and new i had a herniated disc that was putting pressure on nerves. well he didnt take any other xrays, but i had a discogram done. that is where they stick 3 long needles (epideral needles) in you back with no pain medication and put fluid or air in to find where the pain is exactly. well come to find out i have 3 herniated discs' and degenerative disc disease, it where the discs' are not working the way they are supposed to, well then he tell me there is nothing he can or will do for it, and to take more medication. i told him i was already taking #10 Lortab 2x a day. and also take tramidal every 8 hr. but all he told me was to take more. when i was there the staff was really rude to me, and to the other patients that were there. and i waited an 2 hrs after my app. time in the waiting room after i checked in. then i spent less then 5min in with this dr. Pros: really no rating at all Cons: will not go back more

A Great surgeon and chronic pain management doctor. His staff is second to none, they make the visits more enjoyable as well. 1/31/2007

This review is for Dr. William Schooley. I have been a patient of his for approximately 4 years. I have a degenerative spinal problems with my back. Before Dr. Schooley implanted the pain pump, my life was a living hell. I was in bed probably 95 percent of my life, due to the excruciating pain I endured. I had no reasonable quality of life at that point. I was taking heavy oral doses of morpine, that kept me dopped up feeling all the time. I had been told that a gentleman whom I was aquainted with, has a wife who recently got a morphine pain pump which is implanted under her skin, which helped her come off most of the oral medications and at the same time, gave her reasonable pain relief. While attending a company picnic, I sought out this lady, and began talking with her about the pain management pump. She was so excited to share all the great news about how it has helped her regain control of her life once again. Talking with her caused me to once again feel like there was something out there that actually may work to help me get relief from this agonizing pain I was enduring day and night! I asked her for the name of her doctor, and she told me it was Doctor Schooley. The next day, I contacted his office to set up an appointment. he had to do prior testing to find out if this type of pain management would work for me. He would temporarily put in a cathetur, that would be attached to my spine. Through this arrangement liquid pain medication would be administered. By this preliminary test, we would know if this type of treatment would be successful for me. Indeed, it worked great ! I was so excited, just thinking I may once again, get relief from most of the agonizing pain, hopefully forever. Another appointment was scheduled to have the permanent pump implanted. If anyone is having any time of chronic pain that will not go away, I certainly reccomend for you to take a closer look at this type of permanent treatment, and perhaps it can give you relief too! Pros: office is convienent to downtown area, lots of parking nearby, new office building more

The best - very honest 4/30/2006

As a back pain sufferer, I can tell you that I've seen my share of doctors. I went to Dr. Schooley after being recommended by my Orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Schooley wasted no time in ordering MRI's and CT scans for my cervical pain. His staff is incredible, especially Corey his scheduler. Matter of fact all of his staff are extremely competent. I go to his Smyrna appointments near Stone Crest Medical Center as I live in Smyrna. He is very honest and very up front. I highly recommend Dr. Schooley. Pros: Honest, Pain management, Staff more
