Look some where else! 1/25/2017

I should have went somewhere else. I am currently a student I've never seen any place pinch pennies and try and take your hours. Half the time the hours are not correct and then when you ask the person that is in charge doesn't know how to explain it states that it's based on a percentage even though it clearly says hours. If you forget your badge to clock in you are required to buy one. I went to buy one the girl didn't know how so I went back to class and told the instructor that I left mine in my jacket at home she called the girl still didn't know how to do it. Next day I get told that I have to buy one even though I have my badge then get told if I don't they aren't giving me my hours.... so because you didn't train the girl to make them I now how to pay for one or you don't give me my hours... let's just say the board of education will be hearing from me. more

Great Service 2/15/2011

I am a long time hair cut client. I have never had a bad experience. The students are very willing to please and the teachers are nice. From what the students have told me they do a considerable amount of training before they perform services on the public. It really shows. more

I'm A student 3/14/2007

I am a full-time student at this school and very disappointed with it. You would think for $13K (Mind you the program is only 11 months...) we would not only be taught the basics, but all the new hair cuts, trends, etc. for the modern times. The curriculum that we have could rival the curriculum of a school from the 1920s. The roller sets we learn and the hair styles that correspond with them are out-dated. The haircuts we learn are just as out dated... Think of a young Dorothy Hamill's harcut, and that is what we learn. Not only are we taught incorrectly, but the teachers themselves cannot even do what we are taught. We have one that cannot perform fingerwaves, which is praticed at least once a week; We have a teacher who did not know how to cut the "Radial" haircut (which for those of you who do not know, it is the basic long-layered haircut); Most of the teachers cannot even do acrylic nails. As for us students, we try to do the best we can under the cirrcumstances we are given. As for a teacher "watching our every move"- that cannot be farther from the truth. We usually have ONE teacher on the floor, and when it gets busy (which is mostly Tuesday through Saturday), if any of the students is at a loss during a service and we need to ask a question, either count on us to figure out what to do ourselves, or wait 15 minutes for a teacher to finally come over and answer our questions. If you ask, "Well $13K seems like it would buy you a excellent cosmetology education", if you don't know where it all goes, please don't forget to check out the 2 nice brand new Hummers the owners drive next time you come in for a service. more

A Cheap Clip in Newark 3/9/2006

If you're in need of a simple bangs trim or a few inches off the ends, give this hair design school a try. You'll have students working on your hair, so having to sign a waver beforehand might come with some unanticipated consequences. However, for the most part, the students are good and prices are CHEAP. For college students, this is a good place to get a quick trim. more

Great place for inexpensive manicures/pedicures 12/10/2005

I like going here because the prices are extremely reasonable. The services are done by students under the supervision of a teacher. I have gone here a lot and have not had any problems with any of the services that I have received. They sometimes have coupons in the paper which makes the price irresistible. more

cheapest but students do the job 9/30/2005

i you just wanna get a hair cut...i guess this is the cheapest around...should be within 10 bucks with tip...but its a school of hair design and students do the job and they get a slip signed from you before stating whatever happens you cannot sue them or something...so if you are up to it...check it out... more
