Sch Painters

I signed a contract in May 2011 with SCH Painters to paint my residence. A deposit (>$2000) was provided as required per the estimate. I was quoted a start date of 4-6 weeks. As of 10 Oct 2011, the home has not been painted nor any work done to this end. I have inquired (email, voice mail) on at least eight occasions when this work would begin and my messages have been mostly ignored. I have been provided with four separate misleading/false start dates by Mr. Hurd or his associate (Kim). The latest estimate from Mr. Hurd was received the week of 03 Oct 2011 when he informed me that he would begin no later than 08-09 October 2011. As of 17 Oct, the work has not been initiated. A certified letter was also sent to their business address formally affirming my request for a refund (no response or refun received). Their lack of responsiveness is unprofessional and poor business etiquette. The state attorney general was contacted and they too were unable to solicit a response from Mr. Hurd. Likewise, a call from my attorney was never returned. I eventually contacted the police department and they called SCH Painters to investigate the complaint and the money refunded. I would NOT recommend SCH painting to my worst enemy. In the spring/summer/fall of 2010 my husband and I worked hard to remove aluminum siding and patch large pieces shingles. We finished got a quote from a couple of painters including SCH painting. We gave a deposit, which they quickly cashed. Scott Hurd's original date for starting was early June 2011. We called numerous times and finally got a call back in late August saying he would start in ""7 to 10 days"". On the 10th day I called back to get an update. Since then, my husband and I have called every couple of days. He has not since called us back. It has been almost 4 MONTHS since they were supposed to start. They have only called us ONCE! As a mother of two young babies, I will now have to find another contractor and attempt to get my deposit back. Needless to say our house remains unpainted another winter and our house still does not reflect our hard work. Scott has been less than professional. more
