Avoid at all costs 5/28/2008

Recently, my wife and I visited Sardine's on a Friday night. To say we were disappointed would be a great understatement. To begin with, we waited about 45 minutes (even though we had a reservation). Our waiter appeared as though he hadn't bathed in over 2 weeks and had no clue about the menu. The ""manager"" gave our waiter a run for his money in the clueless depatment. I could try to overlook this, but the food was cold and overpriced. I wish I had at least one positive thing to add, unfortunately, I don't. Sardine's used to be a wonderful place, now I'll get my Italian from Stouffer's. Pros: Hours of opperation Cons: Just about anything else more

Great Food, Great Atmosphere 4/22/2008

More often than not, I'll choose classic over trendy. When it comes to restaurants, Sardine's is a class act that I hope will be around long after the trends are long gone. Sardine's consistently offers good Italian food in a casual, yet romantic setting with good music and good service. The dining area past the bar is dark and romantic and they play live jazz on weekends. Yes, the place is a bit cramped with the tables a bit too close together, but I found that to be rather cozy. Unlike Houston, where I currently live, Fort Worth residents are not nearly as uptight and self-entitled, so getting a little close to your fellow diner next to you isn't the worst thing in the world. The bread was good, buttery and crispy and garlicky and right out of the oven. I had the seafood risotto and my husband had the lasagna. Both excellent! The tomato sauce in the risotto was rich and tangy and had a little bit of heat for a pleasant warmth that wasn't overwhelming at all. My husband's lasagna was very good as well, with a hint of something that we couldn't quite place. The service was extremely courteous, our water glasses stayed full and we were never left waiting for wine or bread. Afterward, we left feeling almost euphoric. Could've been the wine, but it also could have been the excellent service, food, and atmosphere. I highly recommend this place, especially if you need a cozy and romantic place for a date! Pros: Food, service, music, romantic Cons: A little cramped more

Casual Romantic 2/19/2006

We went to Sardine's after a trip to the Kimbell and the Amon Carter. We were looking for a casual but romantic restaurant and this place fit perfectly. Live jazz music was a nice touch. The wine list was somewhat limited (but it is a casual place). The mushroom stuffed with crab appetizer was small but good. I wasn't a fan of the Caesar salad, a bit soggy when it came out. The pasta, however, was excellent. I had the Linguini alla Rosa, yum proscuitto! Dessert was good, too. The tiramisu seemed to have a cheesecake like layer at the bottom. Pros: Romantic Cons: Tight seating, limited wine list more
