I have lived in the neighborhood for 35 years and in the past Saratoga Steaks was the place to go for special occasions. My recent lunch there has changed my opinion about that. No longer owned by the former owners, it has gone downhill both in food quality and service. When I arrived, the hostess was on her cell phone in the bar. She was aware I was there but continued her conversation till I finally seated myself. I was meeting a coworker, who said she received the same treatment when she arrived. Lunch was cold, tasteless, the waiter was sarcastic at times and condescending,( ex. when the waiter asked if I wanted dessert or coffee, I replied, ""I think I will have tea."" His response was, ""you can't think it, I need to know ."" We waited a long time for our food...\r
a simple french dip sandwich with fries. When my husband spoke with the manager the next day, he was surprised at the hostility and defensiveness of her tone. No apologies. No gestures to keep us a customer in the future. I have since read a number of very similar customer experiences on various websites. In addition, I spoke with neighbors who say they, too, had a bad dining experience with rude waiters, poorly cooked food, salads with dirt on the greens, over cooked, dry steaks, etc. It's a shame because Saratoga Steaks is in a lovely setting on our neighborhood golf course and there was a time when you dined there and knew many of the other diners. However, the local customers are seeing the downward trend--it's like a mutiny--the waiters, staff, manager are trying to close down this restaurant! My advice to those looking for a wonderful dining experience, stay away from Saratoga Steaks! Former Customer
