My wife and I went there on Friday the 16th for an anniversary dinner and were enthusiastically offered a "romantic" table next to the kitchen and facing the bar. Brushing off the irony of that table choice, we went ahead and started with the mushroom bisque and ahi tartar. The bisque was lukewarm at best and we had to send it back. The ahi tartar was presented well, but lacked any real flavor, it was acceptable but forgettable. Entrees were beef tenderloan for my wife and lamb sirlon for me. The beef was flavorful, but tough. Alas, we had to send that back as well because it came with spinach vs. asparagus as we requested.
The lamb was unevely cooked, flavorless and cold. The best part of the meal was the manchego mac and cheese. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, but two cold dishes and one returned dish because of an incorrect order is spotty service in my book. Again, ambiance was ok, but staring at the Laguna Beach 40 something singles crowd mingle while trying to enjoy a quiet meal with my wife didn't really meet expectations. We certainly would have been ok with the table if the food was ok, but it wasn't. An unfortunate waste of time and money.
Pros: Nice Ambiance
Cons: Spotty service, cold soup and bland food
