The service was very friendly, yet clearly unorganized and confused. The server admitted that the menu was complicated and that many items were difficult to describe. It appears like the back of the house has been the main focus. One item we requested was unavailable and the other meal delivered ( 10 minutes later since they forgot to make it) was not what we ordered. I think with some serious attention to the front of the house this could be a 5 star restaurant. I'd be willing to try it again for the food and hope the service is trained next time. I took my hustband here for his birthday celebration and what a fantastic feast we had. I splurged on the 5 course tastings and we were not disappointed. The quail was moist and flavorful, the scallops with procuitto, apples and raisins was to die for, the squab - which I had never had before was a nice experience, the lamb was so so yummy. We were both stuffed - they do not let you leave hungry! The wait staff was very attentive and friendly, TJ (the owner and chef) joined us to share what he was preparing. I have to say that this is high on our list of top dining experiences. For Sacramento, I would say this is second only to The Kitchen, but so much less expensive and just a different experience all together. more

I've eaten two fabulous meals here, and found both food and service wonderful on both visits. Close to downtown but a lovely, quiet getaway from the midtown "scene." Great place to go after the B Street Theatre. Pros: ambience, parking, great waiter more

We tried this restaurant once and it immediately became our favorite place to dine. We have been back several times and each time has been delightful. The friends we have broght to this restaurant have also made it their fav and have been back repeatedly. Each time we arrive, we receive a friendly greeting. Seating is prompt, ambiance is great. Waitstaff are attentive and portions are generous. The seating is conducive to easy, relaxing dinner conversation without straining to hear or be heard. Wine list is excellent. The wait staff are very knowledgeable of the menu and wine selections. If you are lucky, the talented, charismatic chef will come out of the kitchen to meet the diners. Our calamari appetizer arrived before we started to miss it. Unusual, the thick and soft calamari strips paired with fresh balsamic vinaigrette surprised us as more than enough for two. Unfortunately, our entrées arrived 45 minutes later. My rack of lamb had a potato substitution that appeared to delay delivery. 45 minutes less could have kept the cold duck warm. The fowl would have been great had it taken an earlier flight. Exceptional flavors of the accompanying slaw and yam fritter almost made up for lame duck. We ordered rack of lamb in a raspberry demi-glace. What arrived were four lamb sticks, 3 carrot slivers, and 4 red potato halves arranged to look like the potatoes were being protected by 4 tasty little swords. The service was terrible, slow, lacking, you get the point. The food was average but the lousy service made it mediocre at best. They may get there act together but I will never find out as I plan on never going there again. Maybe 20 people in there for dinner and they had already run out of items such as no soup. The food was excellent. I had the scallops in vodka cream sauce and have been musing about it ever since. YUM! We went there on opening night so fully expected that the service would be lacking. It was pretty bad, it took 2 hours start to finish. They ran out of bread. Luckily, my friend and I had alot of catching up to do. This will, I am sure, change as they work out the kinks.
