Santee Pet Hospital

Had been useing this Vet for years and had friends and neighbor quit going there for different reasons. My last experience with this Vet caught me off guard. My Golden Retrievers ear had a large bubble on it which i new what it was cause this same thing happened two years ago. So i left my dog this time at the Vet to have him fix her and when i picked her up her bill was three times what i had paid the previous time. Questioned him on the cost and the rude young lady at the front counter tells me she had called other Vets in the area and they were charging 1/3 less than we were being charged . Didn't make any sense to me being an old customer why i would be charged more than what other Vets in the area charged. But they offered no change in the bill so like my neighbors and friends i also will be looking for a new Vet. more

We have taken our dog to this vet twice and were able to walk right in with just a quick phone call. The Animal Medical Center in El Cajon is always at least an hour wait, and extremely expensive, probably to pay for there LCD TV's in the lobby! Is that really necessary? Anyway, this guy is good, fast, and reasonable. more

My newborn baby was diagnosed with ring worm from our pediatrician. We went to Santee pet hospital to have our cats examined, assuming that they must have given this to our son. we were told we have to give our cats de-worming pills - which we later find out has nothing to do with ring worm. ring worm is a fungus not an actual worm. then they ran tests, culturing some of their pet dander - saying that the tests came back positive & the cats have ring worm. Almost $700 later, we find out our son & myself actually have Lupus, a chronic disease - not ringworm. I would have been fine with them being honest with me if they would have said we couldn't locate any ring worm, do you want us to continue with the=treatment, but they were dishonest with me. now I have numerous doctor visits for my son & my actual illness - lupus. plus the very expensive medicines we have to get. we could have used the $700 we wasted on this vet to good use on our actual illness. I will never return to this hospita more

had dr lindsy for my vet, she is a vet for vets that are on vacation, so she moves around alot. loved her!!! explained every thing and took her time ask me questions and also answered them. shes a keeper but where will she be next? more

Always leave the Santee pet hospital feeling like I got screwed. They never know what's wrong with my animals and always charge too much money. I will never go back. PROS: Very kind Vet CONS: Not at all helpful and very expensive more

Went in thinking my dog had allergies. Came out thinking my dog had allergies for $100. Said if I wanted to know which allergy I would need to see a specialist, gave him a shot and charged me $95. PROS: Two receptionist. One is very kind and helpful. Very friendly Doctor CONS: The second receptionist is rude and short tempered. more

I highly recommend this vet if you happen to live in the area. The employees are friendly and the veterinarian is knowledgable and likes animals. It is somewhat expensive, but they do not seem to be out to gouge you for money. Unfortunately, this vet isn't the most advanced in terms of technology and treatments. For example, it has no antivenom. If your dog is bit by a snake, you must take them elsewhere. The vet can be contacted 24/7 in case of emergencies.
