Santee Lakes Regional Park is seven-lake recreational oasis in the suburban sprawl on the northeastern edge of East County San Diego. The park offers a wide variety of activities: camping, boating, fishing, picnicking, group accommodations, bicycling, playgrounds, swimming, volleyball and hiking and jogging trails. For bird watchers, the park is home to nearly 175 identified species. A big bonus is that state fishing licenses are no longer required here. This reduces the cost for and adult angler from nearly $30 to $7. A family of four can fish for $22. The lake's are stocked annually, check there site or the local paper for more info on what lake and when. As a kid I landed a few pound catfish (lake 4) so I love this place.
