Bookshop Santa Cruz has got it going on 4/13/2006

Bookshop Santa Cruz has a little bit of everything for everyone. The carry a wide variety of books--with all sorts of subversive topics. If you're trying to save some money, they also have a pretty decent selection of second hand books for sale. And unlike a lot of other places, many of the second hand books come in pretty good condition. Alex likes to sift through their bargain bin. He's been through many, and says that Bookshop Santa Cruz has one of the best ones--they just don't sell junk in there. more

Santa Cruz Cinema 9 1/9/2006

This theater is right in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz. It's convenient location makes it a great place to go. After dinner you can stroll down Pacific Avenue to the theater. The theaters are clean and are kept up well. The movies are the newest releases. Prices for food and drinks are high, typical of all movie theaters. more

Great Local Business to Support 9/20/2005

Bookshop Santa Cruz is a great local bookshop to support. It carries a wide variety of books, and while they are not as easy to find and the building not as well designed as say, Borders, you get a happy feeling each time you walk in here. One wonderful thing to take advantage of is their author visits where excellent authors come in to talk about their books. more

Titles Abound 8/19/2005

My wife and I visit the California coast twice a year and everytime we go we have to stop in this awesome book store. The town of Santa Cruz is unique and this independent book store fits in perfectly. They have a good selection of books and intersting things that you won't find at other stores. Last time we were there we bought several neat maps of Paris, London, etc...that I have not been able to find anywhere else. I would recommend stopping by if you are in or near Santa Cruz. more

Good selection of books, magazines 8/17/2005

Bookshop Santa Cruz has a good selection of books from different categories including cooking, plays, children's, and travel. They have a small section of used books, which vary in price. The bargain book section is much larger, and includes books of all types. They have an excellent variety of magazines. I particularly like their magazine selection because they have a wide variety of music magazines. more

Bookshop Santa Cruz 8/17/2005

This is Santa Cruz’s main independent bookstore, and is seen as the major competitor to the Borders chain bookstore located in the Downtown area. It has an extensive magazine and contemporary author section, including many titles that are not found in more traditional chain bookstores. This is definitely a place to check out when visiting Santa Cruz. more

Great independent bookstore 8/16/2005

It is one of the premiere independent bookstores in Northern California and has a very helpful staff to guide you to what you need. Also, the prices are very reasonable in comparison to the corporate competition (Border's). They also have a wide selection of books and magazines, and have been able to find everything that I have looked for. One of the places that have been helping in the "Keep Santa Cruz Weird" campaign. more

best bookstore ever 8/15/2005

i will admit bias as i have been going to this bookstore since i was born, but it is truly a perfect bookstore. it had to move from its original location in an old brick building on pacific ave when the building was destroyed in the 1989 earthquake, but it has retained its personality and is now in a bigger building. they have an amazing children's section and also an extensive used book selection. also your number one source for 'keep santa cruz weird' t-shirts. more
