A Five Star Tour 5/9/2010

Very Disappointed 3/17/2010

I did some research and decided to go with this company for a wine tour for a group of 12 people. This was for a special occasion, so I coordinated the wineries of my choice with the owner. One week prior to my wine tour, the owner, Jerry, informed me that we could only go to one of the four wineries I had requested. Disappointed, I agreed to go to three other wineries that Jerry recommended. Due to the size of our group, we had to take a Hummer and a Jeep. We all boarded our vehicles and the Jeep wouldn?t start. Someone in our party had to use his personal jumper cables to jump-start the Jeep and we were on our way. About 30 minutes into the drive, however, the Jeep stalled again, this time on the highway. The Hummer had to turn around and pick up some of our group, while three people in our group had to wait on the side of the highway for Jerry to come to the scene with a replacement vehicle. 30 minutes later, Jerry pulled up in his personal van and had the tour guide continue the tour in his van. The van was certainly not the fun, open-air, off-road vehicle we had contracted for- it was enclosed, old, dingy, and had loose shag carpeting, and coupled with the time delay and inconvenience of being separated from the group, Jerry offered the three individuals who had been waiting at the side of the road a $40 per person discount. When the tour was over, I called Jerry to very calmly discuss the discount. I felt that the $120 discount was insufficient due to the inconvenience, time delays, and non-equivalent substitute transportation. Jerry told me that I had to pay $99 each for three guests and $139 for the other nine IMMEDIATELY OR HE WOULD CALL THE POLICE. Stunned by his EXTREMELY unprofessional behavior, I told Jerry that I did not appreciate his threats, at which time he hung up on me. The tour guides, Mike and Sue, did a good job, but I would not recommend this company due to Jerry?s lack of professionalism. If you do use this company, cross your fingers and hope nothing goes wrong- otherwise you may have the displeasure of having to deal with Jerry. more
