Amazing experience with Sandhill! Dr N and the staff are super. They all give you this small town feel of caring and genuine interest in you and your furry family members. I definitely recommend!! Dr. Nothnagel it by far the best veterinarian we have had. He is honest, caring, friendly and very reasonable for all services. I've been taking my cat to Sandhill since I got him over 7 years ago and I couldn't ask for a better vet. My cat is indoor/outdoor so he always gets scraps and cuts, but when he has something serious I can call them and they'll fit me in sometime that day. It is great to have a vet you can count on when you have a cat that lives life to the fullest and uses all 9 of his lives. I also work at a pet store in Madison and recommend Sandhill to new kitten owners and don't have a vet, I trust them so much I would recommend them to anybody. more

We found Dr. Fred after moving here 6 years ago; he diagnosed a long time problem that no other vet had been able to, and supported me with the decision to euthanize her because of her continued pain. He's just amazing with little creatures- so professional and my pets have absolutely no fear with him; he's kind and tolerant in the face of questions that may seem over reactive etc. He also seems to hire amazing staff- knowledgeable, supportive, interested,caring and genuine. Their dental cleaning is not only the least expensive we've had, but also the best. I trust him with staying current on any topics (from a nurse's perspective); his diagnostic capacity is superb. I would choose him over the vet school for diagnostic and for being upfront about prognosis and cost. When I move 350 miles away I plan to bring my pets for care with him as we pass through Madison. We've had many pets for 40 years; Dr. Nothnagel and staff are tops. more

Dr Fred has been treating my insulin dependent diabetic dog for the 6 years Ive owned her. She is a good dog and has never had a problem going to the vet, but comparing her care to other vets I have used for past pets in my life, I think Dr Fred is the best vet I have worked with. I myself am a registered nurse, so I see little things like attention to details and diagnostic process, and it is clear to me that the staff at this clinic are highly knowledgeable and provide very high quality animal medical care. In addition, the prices for services are extremely reasonable. You can afford to get the care your pet needs, and it is some of the best care you can get. more

Dr Fred and the crew, came through again for our family. Our year old yorkie poo was running high fever and they got us in right away. On meds now and doing fine. Last spring the same dog had gotten abscess, checked with my groomer Royal pets. She stated I needed to get the puppy to the Dr. right away. It was the day the Sandhill was closed, In a panic had had no idea where to go, called the phone # and Dr, Fred was there doing paperwork. He told me to stay in the parking lot and he would come and open up and see the puppy. 10 minutes and we where on the way home with meds. That was Awesome! more

We have used Dr. Fred as our Vet for over 20 years. He is not only technically excellent, but he truly treats every pet like its his own! In all of Madison and Dane County, you cannot find a better more qualified Vet. more

A friend of mine recommended "Dr. Fred" to me shortly after I moved to Madison and I've loved him and the whole Sandhill crew ever since. I moved here with one dog, a sweetie but occasionally aggressive but they put me at ease about bringing her in, even in close quarters with other critters. I adopted a second rescue dog later who had a series of health problems and finally had to be put to sleep - I couldn't have handled it without the kindness and warmth of Dr. Fred. Over the years everyone who's worked there has been great. Highly recommended for any pet lover. more

For an avid dog lover I have been nothing but impressed with "Dr. Fred" and his staff, I have 2 english bulldogs and he takes very good care of them, I would recommend them to any bulldog owners as they have taken care of my oldest since he was a puppy (6 yrs). Always nice and available to answer questions I may have (silly or not) I am a customer for life, I trust them with the health care of both my dogs more

our cats consider this vet's office a safe haven. The vet is friendly and gentle with our felines. The cats hardly notice when the vet is giving them a shot...he is good at calming our pets down and giving the shot as quickly and with as little pain as possible. He gives a thorough examination, and is very straightforward with his finding. Our cats are lucky to receive the type of care they receive at this clinic. more
