I first visited Sandbar when I moved to Santa Barbara and was staying at a nearby hotel. I couldn't resist their happy hour (4-8) and still can't. A friend and I have had a standing happy hour date once a week for nine months straight, and we don't plan on changing those plans anytime soon! Sandbar is a awesome restaurant/bar. It has a great patio to enjoy drinks & dinner with friends in the beautiful Santa Barbara weather. They have friendly waitresses and great food.The Sandbar also has an awesome nightlife.If you are looking for a fun night of drinking and dancing this is definitely the place! This place is awesome! They have a ton of stuff on happy hour including appitizers. They have a huge outdoor area and at night it's a cool club with dancing. I hang out at sandbar all time. more

Plus it is located in the middle of all the action on State Street! They have great food and the wait staff made the dining experience fun. Sandbar also has an amazing nightlife. the best setting in town. they have have great indoor and outdoor seating right alongside state street. i go in there quite a bit and always receive prompt, friendly service. the food is great tasting and moderately priced, plus they have probably the best happy hour i have seen in town (2 for the price of 1 drinks and half off appetizers, WHOA). they double as a bar at night and even have live music once in a while. I was shocked when I saw some of the bad reviews that people have written for Sandbar. I go to Sandbar frequently, and I've never had a bad experience. The food is good quality, and really a good value for what you get. It's a great place for lunch or dinner, and I especially like sitting out on their patio for Happy Hour. There isn't a better patio in Santa Barbara for enjoying some food, drinks and watching the people walk by on State St. Don't listen to these few people who have had a bad experience. Being a fabulous Latina, and being brought up with only the best in Mexican cusine....\r SANDBAR should be named SHITBAR. I was SO disappointed. My chicken Taquitos had cheese! DUDE WTF! Never in my life have I ever seen such a thing. It was almost sac religious. It was a total college dive. Totally meant for the unexperienced foodie. I was grossed out the whole time. My margarita tasted like Pine Sol mixed with watered down tequila. \r The guacamole was neon green! WTF! It looked store brought. I would have had a better night with Jose Ole frozen mexican food and Tecate. All I gotta say is this place is NASTY, and I will never forget the waitress who thought Carnitas were Beef. The food is anything BUT Mexican. In fact, when I ordered carnitas soft tacos, I got carne asada instead. When I told the waitress that I ordered carnitas, she replied ""Yeah, it should be in there!"" WTF!?! That means pork sweetheart, not beef! And, I've had better margaritas out of a can. It was weak and watered down. Even if it is a happy hour special, I should at least taste tequila. Save your money and go elsewhere! Pros: None! Cons: The food and the margaritas! The food was great... small portions in my opinion. Not a big place, we had to wait a long time because they do not sit two people at a four top. Very friendly and prompt service once we sat down. Many TV's and a comfy decor... sort of a sports bar type of feeling. Overall i'm glad I went there but I don't know if i would race to go back. This place is amazing to go to when your in the Santa Barbara area. From the partying, atmosphere, music, beautiful crowd, and the food, this place is probably the best bar/restaurant in the Santa Barbara area.
