Elegant dining always 9/24/2010

San Marco's is a gem. The food is always superb. The entire menu is outstanding. The lobster ravioli is a delight as is the sea bass and the scallops. Save room for dessert. The passion fruit sorbet encased in white chocolate is amazing. The reasonable price is an additional plus for this fine dining establishment. more

food great, service, for the price, not worthy 5/30/2009

Although I feel the food was spectacular, the sea bass and the trout, also the venison when they have it, i was taken back by the service. a regular customer, at least I thought,( frank didnt acknowledge us) The server didnt seem to want to be there and didnt seem to know the product. our salads, a second course, never came to us, although we were charged, and the coffee cups came without saucers. Our water glasses, well thats another story.\r In my opinion, its scary to go there because it looks like an abandoned garage, and you never know who is going to control your night. We had and excellant waiter(a man) last year on a busy sunday, but a blonde girl this last time that, again, just seems like she didnt belong.\r Id like this place to survive, but, with the lack of good service, i cant seem to justify spending the money.\r And you might want to tell your watress' that Amarone has not one of the same grapes as Chianti Pros: gnocci, wine list, veal chop, trout, rabbit Cons: the service, lackadasical blondes who dont want to be there, more

WITHOUT A DOUBT the best authentic italian restaurant in buffalo 7/13/2007

San Marco Restaurant is phenominal. Our experiance there awesome. Frank (the owner) was in the front to greet us as we walked in, and its quite assuring knowing that his wife Nancy was in the back cooking our meal. The food was amazing and couldnt come out more fresh. They have recently remodeled and it looks beautiful. We sat in the wine room which was cozy and romantic. I had the fillet which was delicous and extremly reasonable priced at $26.00. The entire menu is hands down cheaper than many of the other fine dining restaurants in buffalo. The buffalo news gave them 4 stars and it was without a doubt extremly deserved. When you go to San Marco you are well taken care of, and if your lucky Frank just might sit down and tell a few jokes. I would recommend this restaurant to the young, the old, and everyone in between. I love it and wouldnt hesitate sending everyone there. Pros: The owners are always there and truly taking care of their customers Cons: no liquor more

My Favorite Restaurant in Buffalo 6/19/2007

I found this place by searching the web and took my kids and their signif others there when visiting Buffalo earlier this Spring (2007). I was astounded at the delicious food and service and atmosphere. It is a small, quiet, immaculate restaurant where you can talk with your party without having to filter out background noise. Its a place you would choose if you wanted to impress your guests. I will probably go back the next time I visit my kids in Buffalo. As one other reviewer mentioned, the location is not the greatest but it certainly is not a bad location like, say, east Ferry. We had no problem parking in the lot surrounding the restaurant. Its not cheap but I think it's worth it. Pros: Great food, service and atmosphere Cons: Not cheap but you get what you pay for more

Buffalo's Best Restaurant Period. 2/7/2007

San Marco is the finest restaurant in Buffalo and the surrounding suburbs. I proposed to my wife at this restaurant because of the athmosphere, the staff, and the food is spectacular. I know Frank and his wife have poured their heart and soul into this restaurant and it reflects in their entire operation. The menu is splendedly designed and contains enough variety to meet anyones taste pallet. An incredible wine list enables you to site back and enjoy some of the best wines from around the world, and they are priced accordingly. The desert menu is also incredible, so save room. Pros: Great Athmosphere, incredibly friendly service-your treated like family. Cons: Parking can be a bit tricky. more

delicioso 11/23/2003

San Marco's is far and away the best Northern Italian in Western New York. The servers know the menu inside and out and are extremely friendly. As someone else said, let Frank choose a wine for you if you don't know Italian reds well. His taste is impeccable and their wine collection is unsurpassed. I've been going to this restaurant since I was a child when it was on Elmwood Avenue, and it is still my favorite. There is a private room that can be booked for larger parties that is filled with part of their wine collection -- it's a treat to eat there. I recommend the wild boar-- it used to be a special but it's made its way onto the regular menu and is supremely tender and tasty. Even if you don't generally like pork, the wild boar will not disappoint. Pros: fantastic service, wine is amazing, tons of parking Cons: location not great more

All the way from Toronto 1/6/2003

I reviewed the entries in this website and San Marco appeared the best. It was worth the trip from Toronto> A journey through Emiliga Romagna-truffle dishes galore, game, properly prepared veal and wonderful sauces. We will be back! more

Buffalo's Best Restaurant 6/2/2002

On most occasions, special or not, this is the restaurant my wife and I think of first. The food and service are outstanding. At least once in your life you have to try their Radiatorre Luciana (pasta nuggets in a sun-dried tomato cream sauce) or their Taglietelli al tortufo (pasta in a truffle cream sauce). You can get it as a first course or appetizer(if you ask). If you like red wine, but don't know Italian reds, let Frank (owner/host) pick for you, you won't be disappointed. Pros: excellent food, great wine list, outstanding service more
