Charlie is a thoughtful and conscientious guy, who showed up in advance to see the scope of the job and set our expectations as to time required, cost, etc. He showed up early, his crew arrived on time, and they worked swiftly and carefully. Charlie kept a constant eye on what his crew was doing, making sure no damage was done and nothing was left behind. I couldn't believe how hard these guys worked, and how quickly it was done. Came in well under the initial cost estimate and without a hitch. more

This was the first time we hired movers and it was a fabulous experience. Charlie and his team were on time and fabulously flexible! Upon arrival not one car had been moved for the permits and we were waiting on the police. Him and his team said they would be fine with the cars there. The police FINALLY showed up and Charlie and the team said it would be fine if the cars stayed without batting an eye! So easy going! more

The service was excellent, the movers were there on time, highly professional, and incredibly hard-working. My husband and I were both amazed at how careful they were with the furniture and also appreciated how difficult it was to carry big furniture items up and down a flight of narrow spiral stairs. more

I was most impressed with SJM reviews. I contacted the business and spoke to.Charlie is very knowledgeable and professional and after several email exchanges, decided San Jose Movers appeared to be the best mover in the Bay Area. When they arrived (Horatio and Alfredo) for the move at the initial large (10X20 tetris style piled up) unit, I was very impressed as they were not only early but began to work right away. Both were a great team and worked efficiently for the next few hours while I advised them what goes to our new home and what goes to another storage unit. The truck appeared to be full with a few large remaining items left to be loaded. I was concerned we would have to do a double back. Instead, two large items were placed in their cab (unbelievable) and the cal king mattress tied to the back of the truck! When we were headed to our home, I received a phone call from Charlie concerned that the multiple stops we needed to do may not get completed by the end of the day and he offered to have another truck start at one of the other locations. I agreed and it was a great idea! After 9 long hours, a crew of 4 men were helping me in my home. Putting felt under the art pieces or tables or chairs that may scratch the wooden floor and even repairing scratched wood (none of which I requested - they observed and asked if I would like it done - WOW - what service!). Putting together my large wooden-pole cal king bed proved to be a feat too - but they persevered and completed the task beautifully. Another hard task was maneuvering my 18' metal giraffe in the building and into my home - then volunteering to attach it to the wall for safety purposes - another WOW for service! more

Charlie stopped by to give us a free on site quote and was very competitive to other movers we sought estimates from. He provided a not-to-exceed figure so this was very helpful when budgeting our moving costs. We booked the job based on yelp reviews alone as we didn't have a personal referenced to go by. We opted to move our 2 flat screen TVs ourselves and our fine arts since those are easier for us to transport and we saved some moving costs in that area. Moving day - The moving team (total of 4 movers) arrived on time at 8AM and were very motivated to get things going. We packed and sorted best as we could. We did have some other smaller items that were to be left behind. They communicated well and asked alot of questions which is good since we had loose items on countertops which we needed to leave behind, as well as a couple of bar stools, and a few kitchen items. Bear in mind that we live on the 3rd floor with NO elevator access. And a bonus is that It was raining cats and dogs that day. We moved to another 3rd floor unit within the same community also WITHOUT an elevator. They were on full "BEAST MODE" and got everything packed, moved and unloaded in 8 hours up and down 3 flights of stairs. This included a full floor-level garage we also stored things in - which was not 100% packed in boxes. They got the garage loaded and unloaded in an hour. more

The three men who came out to do the move were prompt, informed me in advance of their arrival, got started promptly and chugged through the move. They even helped with combining some half-full boxes (asking me first), which reduced the volume of the move and the time spent walking through the storage facility. On the other end, they unloaded the truck into a compact corner of my new space, turning a 10x20 into an 8x8 effectively. Will definitely use them again! more

I got three estimates. The estimator from SJM was considerably more knowledgeable than the other two. He was only 600 lbs off when they weighed me after the load.The other two guys would have been 2000 off and 3500 off. Big difference in price. SJM guy also told me exactly what to expect on both ends of the move from SJM and what I needed to do to make it a good move. Everything he told me worked out as he presented it. After I gave them the business I dealt with July to arrange the pickup right thru to the wrap up after the delivery. She never left me wondering what was going on. She always had the timely information you would want such as: my insurance options, when they were going to pick up and deliver (exactly)and who I would be dealing with at all times. She was proactive, I did not have to chase anyone down during the whole process. She was a gem. Then three very congenital, courteous and very strong guys came to pack.They were like a well oiled machine. No wasted motion. They wrapped everything glasses to an antique (big) cabinet so that nothing would break, and nothing did. I was there the whole time and they were meticulous about carrying the items and loading the truck. They finished 45 minutes sooner than was estimated. more
