There are a variety of animal hospitals in San Jose and I encourage all who read this to go elsewhere. Taking my pets to Akal was the worst vet experience I've ever had. I even gave Akal the benefit of the doubt after my first visit (which was very unfriendly) and gave them another try! I guess I should have learned my lesson the first time! Don't be like me!!!!!!!!! Akal Animal Hospital is a great animal hospital. Although I don't have any pets, my sister do have 2 dogs. And she always bring her dogs there when she needs help. They are really friendly and professional and you don't have to wait too long. They are really good at pets and they know how to let them calm down. Their price is alson reasonable. more

I had biked here from my house and not only did they bring water for my dog, they brought me a cup of water too! That was a great personal touch. When I had called earlier that day to make an appointment for my dog to get her shots updated, they were helpful on the phone and it was easy to make an appointment. They also reccomended some other shots that my other vet had never given her, and since I occasionally board my dog I decided to take them--I'd rather her be vaccinated for something she'll never be exposed to than to be under vaccinated and catch something. I chose this place because it was closer to my home than my usual vet, and I was actually afraid I'd regret choosing convenience over a known quantity--and I don't regret it at all! The veterinary assistants were great with my dog, they befriended her before taking blood or doing any examinations, so my dog was very calm throughout the whole appointment. I love the Akal animal hospital in San Jose because they are quick to treat animals and it's sometimes cheap. Last month, I brought my dog there and I received $40 off my bill because I donated some cans, and they had coupons. The lady was really nice and the vet was great in calming my dog down. The only thing that is not so good is that they close early so I couldn't bring my dog there when there was an emergency and had to wait till the next day. Other than that, it was a nice and clean place. more
