Due to asking a care giver to bring my 83 year old mother to an appointment with a NP at 3:30, I left work to meet her and mom there. I received a call from the care giver letting me know she was running a little late. When I arrived at the office, I went to the clerk at the front to let them know my mom was on her way but running late. I asked if she would be able to be seen once she arrived and they said they would have to call back when she arrived to find out. I asked if the NP had other patients after her and was told ""yes"" plus a couple of additonal expected. When mom arrived, admittedly late by 20 minutes, I told them, and we sat down only to be called up to reschedule because the NP had left! I THOUGHT THERE WERE OTHER PATIENTS TO BE SEEN!! I work full time and have waited 30-45 minutes in a patient room with mom more than a few times but my time isn't important. I had to reschedule the appointment even though I know if they had wanted to, they could have told the NP that the patient was on the way and MAYBE they would have stuck around long enough to see her!
