The San Jacinto Battlegrounds state park is located on the exact spot where Texian bravely fought for Texas independence. A large monument marks the spot on the 1,200 acre site. You can take a elevator up to the top look out tower and see the Houston Ship Chanel, Battle Ship Texas, and the Fred Hartman bridge. There is also a pretty neat gift shop, museum and a theater that shows movies about this historical site.
Admission is a few bucks and worth the time.
