Editorial review from Citysearch 7/31/2013

By far the best hibachi meal that I've ever had. Their chicken fried rice is so delicious, and much better than every other hibachi restaurant that I've been to. Their prices are unbeatable, and I have never been dissapointed with my meal here. more

fresh food made right in front of you! 7/7/2010

I really enjoy going during the lunch hour because it isn't crowded and you can pick sushi bar or hibachi grill. They have a nice selection of sushi to choose from as well as cooked food. I am never disappointed in the food I order. But...If you decided to go during 6-8pm and you want the hibachi, be prepared to wait awhile because it does become crowded and parking is HORRIBLE!! I will have to go to the Bellaire location to see if it is better than Webster. Pros: excellent selection of food Cons: crowded, limited parking more

The new building should be better in Clear Lake 6/4/2010

We had heard wonderful things about Samurai's new building and becided to take the kids for the last day of school. WOW disapointing. The grills and floor where sticky and the man running the Hibachi was having a bad day. He messed up everyones order and was unfriendly. The group across from us, the father did not get his food until after we left. The hostest was mad because we would not pay our bill before we finished eating and made it apoint to show her irritation. Pros: The Sushi was good Cons: service, cleanliness, managment more

New Bellaire Location Shines 2/16/2010

We jsut dined at the new Bellaire location. The service was attentive and warm without hovering. The decor is divine. The hibachi had standard offerings but was very good. The sushi was extremely fresh - the catepillar roll tasted like it came straight from the garden. Portions are generous without being huge. The mango mouse (dessert special) was heavenly. Overall, a very good value for the price. We will definitely be back with more guests. I'm so happy to have a great Japanese restaurant in Bellaire more

Great Sushi and Hibachi 1/13/2010

Samurai's makes the best sushi in all of the Clear Lake and Webster area. I love the Nasa Roll, the Geisha Roll and the Special Crunch roll. Plus they have a hibachi (sit around a huge grill) plate that's called a Seafood Combo; it comes with lobster, shrimp and scallops, and it's wonderful. Pros: Best Sushi in all of the Webster, Clear Lake area more

Amazing!! 7/31/2009

The sushi here is delicious. We will definitely go back again. The only issue was waiting on water refills. Pros: Sushi Cons: Service more

Great sushi and hibachi 3/24/2009

Samurai has become a frequent choice for our Friday night dinner and is perfect for a night out with a group. The hibachi steak and shrimp are consistently cooked to absolute perfection, and the sushi rolls are among the best in town. In fact, the only dish at Samurai I can't easily pronounce the best in the Clear Lake area is the cheese puff appetizer, which is better at Masa Sushi. Other than that, Samurai wins the gamut! Top picks: Philadelphia Hand Roll, Samurai Mai Tai Pros: Convenient, affordable Cons: Limited parking available more

Amazing mouth watering sushi 3/6/2009

This is now a restaurant that I make sure to visit at least twice a month. Friendly service, always keeps drinks filled, willing to accommodate to your taste. The BEST sushi I have had (and I have been to many many sushi 'joints' as I like to call them. Its in a strip mall kind of building, but dont let that fool you. And hey if its your birthday they sing and even let you hold a samurai sword. Pros: quick service, great food Cons: closed in between lunch and dinner (but open late) more

Good Food but they need to clean the place up! 1/16/2009

The food and service is very good. The sushi is fresh and they have the best table cooking in the area. However I was disappointed on my last visit of the condition and cleanliness of the restaurant. The floors were so sticky your shoes stuck to the floor and there was clutter in the sushi area. Restrooms needed attention also. Pros: Good food. Cons: Dirty more

Good food Bad Service 6/6/2008

I have been to this restaurant several times to eat out with friends. I have noticed that the service is really lacking lately. With my last dining experience the waiter never once filled up our waters, we had to wave him down for a refill. I noticed him just standing by the kitchen door doing nothing, so I can?t say it was a busy night for him. I ordered my meal off the hibachi grill and ordered one of the more expensive dishes that came with ice cream for dessert. The waiter completely forgot to bring us the ice cream and brought the bill instead. I was not impressed at all with his service at all. If I ever do venture back to this restaurant I will let the manager know of any poor service I receive. Pros: good food, Not crowded, Fun. Cons: Wait staff service is very poor. more

Terrible Customer Service 4/21/2008

My family and I frequent Japanese restaurants regularly and have come to expect a certain quality of service that most Japanese restuarant owners pride themselves on. We were completely shocked by the poor service we received. After being seated at the hibachi table, our server asked if we would be ordering anything from the hibachi grill. We told him we would only be eating sushi and he removed our plates and silverware. We then promptly ordered our waters and sushi rolls. When the server brought out the first of the sushi rolls, he did not bring any chopsticks or plates. We sat looking around for 10 minutes before I finally became so frustrated that I grabbed a bus boy by the arm and asked him to please bring us some chopsticks and plates. The rest of the sushi was brought to us sometime later but we had no napkins and empty water glasses. So I asked the same bus boy for some napkins and he helped us out again. The sushi itself was nothing special. I have eaten sushi buffet that tasted better. Once we were done eating, we waited another 10 minutes for our server to show his face so that we could ask for the check. After giving him the credit card, the server brought it to the register up front. We waited for 10 minutes but he never brought the credit card and reciept back! My wife had to get up and flag down the server and ask him where her credit card was. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service at Samurai was hands down the worst service I've ever received at ANY restaurant! Cons: Service more

Great Japanese Sushi!! 7/11/2007

This is the best japanese restaurant that I've been to. I am from Japan, so I am really picky about the original japanse food. I really don't like americanized japanse food as much.... Especially I was amazed is the people that work at the restaurant is reallly friendly and remember you. Most of the server have worked there for since they are open, so I am really comfortable going over there. If you get to know them more, they will let you try new things on the house... I really love the sushi. They have own special rolls that really good, and also their special drinks. All the sushi men have experienced for a long time, so they are wonderful and beautiful like an art. If you have any kids, they will love it. My kids want to go there every week. They have kids menu under 8 dollars so it's really reasonable price. I love the happy hour. They have lots of fresh fish. They also have a party room and has a door, so it's good have a birthday party or something... Just try it! That's all I can say it. It's worth it:) Pros: Service more

Great sushi 1/30/2007

Great sushi is now in clear lake area. There are a handful of other japanese resturants on bay area but this place burns the competition away. this place is high recommended for sushi or hibachi food. more

another sushi place to try in the SE 11/22/2006

i can't get over how many sushi places has taken storm in the SE side, and this restaurant is probably one of the better ones, too. the ambience is nothing spectacular. there's no special features or hype that seperates them from any other sushi place. the decor is much to be desired of ... it doesn't offer that cozy, laid-back, romantic feel ... the vastness of this place is begging to be filled with a personal touch. although, they do have happy hour and you can't go wrong with that. the sushi quality is decent, i've tried better in the greater houston metropolitan area, but at least the sushi isn't falling apart. * Pros: decent sushi Cons: parking, ambience more

New Japanese Kid In Town 5/14/2006

Look out everyone, there's a new Japanese steakhouse in H-Town, and it is taking no prisoners! ......God, we love this place. It has only been open two or three months, and we have already dined here a half-dozen times or so. They have the best sushi in town, and a great variety of japanese dinners and wines on the menu, that can abide any budget. Try the ""Crunch Maki Roll,"" rolled with shrimp tempura, crab, spicy mayo, seaweed, and sesame. It is absolutely delicious. The vegetable tempura appetizer, St. Jean Chardonnay, and hot variety of dinnners all cooked at your table, are all wonderful. I highly recommend Samurai's. Pros: Fresh!, Best Sushi, Service more
